Stay Up To Date with the Changing Environment

Climate change is one of, if not the, biggest problems the planet faces. With global temperatures rising everything, ice caps melting, wildfires increasing, and numerous more natural disasters, it is important to know what is going on. The next few years will show increasingly intense climate disasters such as hurricanes which will destroy peoples lives. Finding resources for climate change education is a necessity of being a conscious citizen. Luckily there are so many resources, it’s virtually impossible not to stay updated.

If you want to stay up to date with what’s happening in the environment, we have some of the most well-researched resources for you.

GlobalChange.gov

Though the government can be one of the worst places to get climate change education (i.e. anything Trump says), it is also one of the best. The Global Change agency focuses entirely on the environment and its changes around the globe.

They are entirely dedicated to learning about and understanding the causes and effects of climate change. There are tons of resources for you to use to teach yourself.

You can gain an understanding of the history of climate change, or you can see what is happening right now. It is one of the best places in the United States for climate change research. Plus they have ways for you to get involved, so you can actively help shape the environmental future of this planet.

Climate Adam

Climate Adam is a YouTube channel where you can learn all about the environment in a quick five minute segments. It is perfect if you are trying to learn on the go, or take a quick crash course in what’s happing.

Host, Dr. Adam Levy, got his doctorate from Oxford and now uses his knowledge to help teach you about what’s changing in the world. Plus he has some swooped hair and a British accent, which is always a plus.

NASA

NASA does more than send people to the moon. They play an important role in researching our environment. After all, we only get weather predictions from meteorologists. NASA has tons of first and second-hand studies to keep you updated on everything happening with the environment.

They are one of the most credible sources on climate change, with tons of background in the science that makes global warming happen. NASA had one of the deepest understandings of what is happening right now.

So if you want to know the cold hard facts, check out what NASA has to say. Plus while you are on their website, you can also learn about cool space stuff.

edx

Edx is an online learning resource where you can take classes on just about anything. They offer lectures from universities such as Harvard or the University of Edinburgh. And there are tons of classes on climate change to choose from.

You can learn about climate change in relation to health, carbon emissions, finance, and much more. Almost any area of climate change education you want, you can find there. Plus its free, so you’re getting an online college class at no cost to you.

It is a much more engaging way to learn compared to other resources. It is especially good for auditory learners or those who want extra resources all in one place.

Bill Nye

If you need a little bit of entertainment with your climate change education your go-to should be Bill Nye. You can watch his classic show, Bill Nye the Science Guy, which you probably have fond memories of since childhood.

He covers the climate and other science, that you can watch with a hint of nostalgia from your youth. Or you can watch his new Netflix show, Bill Nye Saves the World, which is conceptually the same as his previous show but with a few updates.

He addresses changes in scientific thinking that have occurred in the past few decades, giving an updated message about where the world is today. You can watch all his fun experiments like you did when you were a kid while learning about science at the same time.

Carbon Brief

Unlike some other sources, Carbon Brief is much more accessible. They do a good job of breaking down the science that not everyone understands, into easy concepts. This British website centers entirely on climate change news, focusing on energy, science, and policy.

It is an easy way to get regular updates on everything that is happening with the environment. Given the constantly evolving nature of the climate and reactions towards it, it is important to always be up to date.

The News

Checking local or national news is a great way to stay updated on climate change. You will learn about what’s happening in your area of globally, and the changes occurring because of global warming. There is always something in the news talking about the environment. You can pick up a newspaper of just go online.

Major news organizations like the New York Times or the Washington Post will always have sections where you can learn about what’s happening. News is also extremely accessible, and something you probably already pay attention to regularly. With so many ways to learn about climate change, there is no reason not to.
