Everyone knows American Horror Story for its many seasons of creepy characters and storylines. Over the years we have seen the same actors, and sometimes new ones, portray new characters each season for their new storylines. One actress on the show who continues to steal the show is Leslie Grossman, who is working on her fourth season for AHS. Ryan Murphy also says that Grossman will return to season 10 this year, with a whole new story arch.
When it comes to the new season, Leslie Grossman can be seen playing camp director Margaret Booth. Plenty of characters on TV shows are from stories or real-life people, but what about this character? Keep on reading if you want to learn more.
Who is Margaret Booth? (Leslie Grossman)

When it comes to the show fans got to revisit their old school 1980’s scary film days. American Horry Story: 1984, stars Leslie Grossman, Emma Roberts, and Billie Lourd which takes place in a 1980s summer camp. The storyline is inspired by movies like Friday The 13th and real-life serial killer Richard Ramirez aka “The Night Stalker.” Ramirez is one of the most vicious serial killers, after murdering over 12 people in Los Angeles, California.
Also, a documentary on Ramirez is also on Netflix if you are into serial killer movies. Within AHS: 1984, Margaret Booth’s character is the director of Camp Redwood and a survivor of a past murder spree at the camp. The season also follows a group of friends who volunteer to work at the camp but they fear the serial killer to be back. This storyline plays into the famous storylines of serial killers who run loose terrorizing young adults but has an unexpected twist at the end.
“Margaret is the extreme ultimate example of religion and money and how it’s ultimately so corrupting and allows people to behave in the most disgusting of ways,” Grossman tells Variety.
Is Margaret Booth A Real-Life Person?

Just like many other shows, there are characters who are inspired by real-life people. Leslie Grossman’s character Margaret is not a real-life person or inspired by a real-life person. There are plenty of characters on AHS who are though! The countess( played by singer Lady Gaga) in AHS: Hotel, is from Elizabeth Bathory. Bathory is a female serial killer in the 16th century, who killed over 600 young girls and bathed in their blood.
Furthermore, Countess Elizabeth Bathory is even in the Guinness World Records as the most prolific female murderer. Another character is in AHS: Coven where Kathy Bates plays Madame Delphine LaLaurie. LaLaurie is a wealthy woman who tortures and does horrible crimes on her slaves. This character’s inspiration is from the real Madame Delphine in the 18th Century.
Her family is famous for brutalizing slaves in the most inhumane ways just like in the show.
Other Characters By Leslie Grossman
Aside from Margaret Booth let’s take a look at other characters she plays in AHS. One role is as Meadow Wilton in AHS: Cult, who is a neighbor of Ally and Ivys. Also, she is a loyal member of Kai Anderson’s Cult, and despite her friendliness, she was very devious. AHS: Cult famously takes inspiration from the 2016 presidential election, and focuses on a group terrorizing people following the results.
Another famous character she plays within the series is Coco St. Pierre. The character is from AHS: Apocolypse which is about a group of people who go into a bunker following a nuclear apocalypse. Also, her character we famously learn is from another season, American Horror Story: Coven. The only issue is that Coco St.Pierre does not remember her time or life in those days and only knows her life now.

Grossman was super excited to be coming back to the show, and could not turn down the role. “When AHS creator Ryan Murphy lets you know that he would like for you to be in the next season of American Horror Story, you say, ‘thank you so much, that sounds like a really good idea,” Grossman said during a segment on Entertainment Weekly: The Show.
She also talks about working alongside Billy Eichner on the franchise. “I think I was a little too excited when I met him, and I think he was like, ‘that’s great, nice to meet you. You need to calm it down a little bit we’re going to be working together. Let’s settle it down.” She recalls.
