There are many actors who try to make it in Hollywood, working through many movies and TV shows. We notice them in a couple of our favorite films, and always wonder why Hollywood doesn’t praise them as much. One of these actors is Eric Balfour, who has done multiple shows and movie roles but is super overlooked. The talented actor did plenty of roles in shows like Haven and smaller roles in bigger shows.

The actor is very talented and has a lot of credentials, so why is he not more well-known? Keep on reading if you want to learn more about the actor and learn about his career.

Who is Eric Balfour?

Eric Balfour and his wife Erin Chiamulon

Eric Balfour is originally from La, California which is the best place to live if you want to be an actor. Balfour is recognized for doing roles in shows such as Country Comfort (2021), Haven (2010), and Six Feet Under (2001). Movies such as Lie with Me, Skyline, Backcountry, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Aside from acting he also sings, he is the lead singer of the LA rock band “Born as Ghosts”.

The band has only a couple of songs and hasn’t sung or created new music in a while. Balfour keeps himself busy while promoting his other career path, his clothing line. The line Electric & Rose is an LA-inspired clothing brand that he is the co-founder of. Lastly, he is married to Erin Chiamulon since 2015 and has one child.

Eric Balfours Bad Luck With Roles

When Balfours began his acting career he started off doing minor roles in shows like Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Arresting Behavior, Boy Meets World, and Step by Step. Following this, a famous show he got luck doing was the two episodes of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which was huge at the time. Even though he is beginning to get more acting gigs, unfortunately, they would get canceled. Hawaii, The Quest, Sex, Love & Secrets, were all canceled after one or a couple of seasons and he had to continue his search.

Things got better around 2003 when he starred in the remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Jessica Biel. He also played Gabriel Dimas in Six feet Under on HBO, a huge show that lasted six seasons and has a cult following still to this day.

Landing a Role In Haven

One of his biggest acting breaks came when being cast on Haven as Duke Crocker. Haven is a supernatural sci-fi show on SyFy show that has five seasons based on Stephen King’s The Colorado Kid. After five seasons it was canceled because of low ratings, and viewership beginning to drop.

He spoke to Tech Times about Haven’s cancellation and how the cast feels about its final episode. “So going in, we all had really high hopes of what this was going to be,” said Balfour. “We didn’t want it to just meander. We didn’t want it to just be the same sort of Troubles storyline regurgitated in some way. And I will say that there were some heated conversations, but the writers did a great job of really raising the stakes and creating something really exciting for the end of this series. And it’s a great end.”

Balfour also explains what’s next for this character, Duke Crocker. “Duke wasn’t taught to be a good person,” said Balfour. “He wasn’t taught to be caring. And despite all of the environmental influences of his entire life, his nature is what it is. And I’m not actually going to say if it’s good or bad. I’m just going to say it is what it is, and I think the people who care about that character know what it is. The fans of Duke are going to be challenged this season because he really is going to be tested and I couldn’t be more excited for them to see how it all turns out.”

What’s Next For Eric Balfour?

After learning about Balfour, we can see that he is obviously very talented and has a good roster of roles. The actor hopefully will find luck years later now that Haven is over. At the moment he is acting on Netflix in the show Country Comfort which only has one season and wasn’t renewed for a second. If you need a one-season show to binge, it’s about a country singer Bailey who takes a job as a nanny for a cowboy and his five children.

Also, It stars other famous names such as Katherine Mcphee and Eddie Cibrian too if you want to binge the first season. You can also support the actor by watching Haven if you’re a huge fan of Stephen King.
