Are you thinking of trying out blue hair? Coloring your hair can be quite an intimidating experience if not done carefully. It can turn into a nightmare if it does not come out the way you want. Needless to say, colored hair is something you need to stay with for a very long-time.

If you are planning to get a blue hair soon, here are few things you should know before you take the plunge!

Do You Have a Damaged Hair?

Before you decide to dye your hair, hang on for a second and look at the condition of your hair. If it is dull, damaged, brittle or already fighting scalp-related problems, it is better to wait for a while. Dyeing damaged and dull hair causes permanent damages to it. So, instead of dyeing your hair, you should first focus on improving the quality of your hair.

The Color Could Fade in a Jiffy

That sassy-looking color would stay back for you in its original vibe for maybe four or five days, but not more than that. If you are lucky, then it might last for a week. After that, it would just start looking dull because of the deadly combination of a conditioner and a shampoo. So, you must pick the right shampoo, conditioner, or other styling products for your hair to retain the color.

The Color Might Stain Everything

Getting stains from your blue hair.

When the hair is dyed freshly, it bleeds color, at least for the next few washes. So, be sure that your towels, pillow covers will be stained after you get your blue hair. The color is permanent, so you might have a hard time washing them and getting off the stains.

You will have to keep your wet tresses far away from everything till they completely dry, especially you’re T-shirts. It can be challenging! But it will all be worth it.

Washing Your Blue Hair

Since hot water is not considered healthy for dyed hair, especially blue hair, you might have to wash your hair with cold water after you get your blue hair. It might seem easy during the summer, but winter could be harsh. However, if you can bear washing your hair in cold water, it’s not so bad after all! In fact, it might be a boon.

To Avoid Frequent Washes Use Other Alternatives of Shampoo

Washing your hair, again and again, can make it look dull and faded. That is why it is not a good idea for color-treated hair to be washed repeatedly. You will have to wash it as little as possible if you want to retain the hair color. With every wash, you will notice the color fading.

Therefore, no matter how greased or dirty your hair gets, you can no longer wash it frequently. You have to make a proper hair routine and stick to it. Meanwhile, you can always use dry shampoos to keep your hair frizz-free and non-greasy.

The Natural Color of Your Hair Will Dictate the Shade of Your Blue Hair

Getting your perfect blue hair.

If you have natural blond hair, any hair color would look good on your hair and do great. You will have to make minimum efforts to get desirable blue hair. It is effortless to dye the hair with dark shade because it gets very quickly on light shade. But when you have dark color tresses, the color does not pop up without generous bleaching.

You might have to make multiple trips of bleaching to make it look visible. Therefore, it is best to consult a hairstylist, instead of trying out these colors randomly at home.

If you are comfortable with these conditions, you can prep up to flaunt your lovely-looking blue bangs without hesitation! However, if your stylist doesn’t recommend it for your hair, do not take the risk, because it can damage your hair forever.
