As a child or young teen, there is undoubtedly a point in time where your parents embarrassed you and just wished the earth would open whole and swallow you. Don’t even get me started of dads; it’s almost like it’s their job! While other kids cower in their shells and bear the embarrassment with the few people who know them, celebrity kids have to bear the shame in front of the whole world. This is painfully the case for Deyjah Imani Harris.
Who is Deyjah Imani Harris?
Deyjah Imani Harris is the 19-year-old eldest daughter of renowned rapper T.I., real name Clifford Joseph Harris and Ms. Niko, who is also a rapper, singer, and producer. She was born on June 17th, 2001, in Atlanta, Georgia. Deyjah is a social media personality, model, and entrepreneur as she has her own clothing line. She has eight half-siblings, six from her fathers’ side and two from her mothers’ side.
Deyjah attended school at Woodward Academy. Having both parents as recording artists meant she got introduced to the entertainment industry at a pretty young age. She has modeled for many different brands and is currently a brand ambassador at Fashion Nova, a leading clothing line. She also designs clothes and sells them, going by her sense of fashion, it is clear she has very good taste.
Deyjah has appeared in her father’s reality show T.I. AND Tiny; The Family hustle. The show covers the lives of the blended family. Tiny, her Stepmother, and her half-siblings all make appearances in the show.

About T.I.
Clifford Harris, aka T.I., is a famous American rapper, songwriter, producer, and actor. He started rapping by the age of eight and was signed by Arista Records sublabel LaFace. The label, however, would soon droop him after a major drop in sales on his song I’m serious. He was picked again by Atlantic Records and went on to produce top-of-the-chart-worthy records. The rapper maintained a good presence in the game, despite the many controversies that marred his life then.
T.I. released the album No Mercy and won two Grammy awards for it. He became more involved in the family reality show with his wife Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, where his kids also made appearances, including Deyjah Imani Harris. He has also starred in several films with special mentions Ant-man and Entourage. Suffice to say, T.I. is a big deal.
The Controversy between T.I. and Deyjah
They say daughters have the most special relationship with their fathers, which was true between T.I. and Deyjah Imani Harris until recently. While speaking on the podcast Ladies Like Us, where he was a guest, T.I. revealed that he takes his daughter Deyjah to the gynecologist annually to make sure she is still a virgin. Excuse me while I bury myself in the sand!
The hosts Ndia Moham and Nazanin Mandi had asked T.I. if he had had the sex conversation with his kids, that is when T.I. made the shocking revelations. To the shock of the hosts who thought he was joking, T.I. further went into details, revealing he started doing that ever since her 16th birthday! He made it a tradition to get her hymen checked just a day after her birthday party! Just wow.
As if that is not bad enough, T.I. made Deyjah sign a form that breaks the confidentiality agreement between doctor and patient to allow him to know exactly what was happening. The privacy violations in this statement alone are mind-boggling.
The rapper revealed that despite the doctors pointing out that the hymen can be broken in many different ways and not necessarily through intercourse, he was still adamant he needed the results as his daughter was not actively involved in physical activities, nor did she ride horses. Suffice to say, these claims sparked outrage among fans, especially women. Even the host themselves were taken aback by these claims.

How Dejah felt about the revelation
Like any sane person, Deyjah was beyond upset and humiliated by what her father said. It was bad enough that she had to go through all that, but having such private details revealed to the whole world was humiliating. She reveals that she found about everything on social media when she saw the topic trending and everyone making comments on her private life which made her hurt, shocked. Angry and embarrassed.
The teenager has revealed that the best she could do is try not to think about the whole situation as it was not healthy. She revealed the situation was traumatizing to her, and it has undoubtedly put a strain on her relationship with her father. Interactions with her father have become uncomfortable, and their relationship has inadvertently changed.
T.I. has since apologized to Deyjah Imani Harris while appearing on the show Red Table Talk with host Jada Pinkett Smith. He claimed he had said everything on a light note, but people had blown the issue out of proportion. He has continued to express his apologies on social media and his love for his daughters. We can only hope all is well between them now.
