It has been a few years since the quirky drama-comedy New Girl finished its 146-episode run. Zooey Deschanel’s character Jess may have been the central character, but that did not stop fans from falling in love with Jess’s best friend, Cece. Actress Hannah Simone brought a sense of depth to the character of Cece that fans found endearing and relatable. Cece’s story may be over now, but Hannah has continued to stay busy.

Getting to Know Hannah Simone
Hannah is British-Canadian and was born on August 3, 1980. Her English mother was of Greek Cypriot, Italian, and German descent. Her father was Indian. Although Hannah was born in London, England, she would go on to spend much of her early childhood in the Canadian city Calgary. From the ages of 7 to 10, Hannah would move and attend school on three different continents.
At the age of 13, Hannah became a fashion model in Cyprus. Moving around the age of 16, she would live and attend school in New Delhi, the capital of her father’s homeland, India. A year later, at the age of 17, Hannah would move back to Canada and eventually settled in Vancouver. There she would major in International Relations and Political Science at the University of British Columbia.
After college, Hannah would spend a year in the London Borough of Hounslow in the United Kingdom. There she put her degree to work as a human rights and refugees officer for the United Nations. Hannah left this position to pursue acting and would go on to work as a VJ, video jockey, television host, and actress.
Hannah’s Life After New Girl
Being the fashionista she is, Hannah Simone would follow in her fashion designer mother’s footsteps and partner with the retailer T.J. Maxx after New Girl ended its run. Hannah would work with T.J. Maxx to produce a line of unique products that would not skimp on affordability or quality.
The ABC network brought Hannah in to join the revival of the show The Greatest American Hero in 2018. The network would ultimately decide not to move forward with the project. Hannah would find steady work as a recurring character on the ABC sitcom Single Parents as Dr. Monica Dewan for the show’s two-year run. She would also work with Jordan Peele, Us and Get Out, on an episode of the science-fiction comedy anthology series Weird City.
In January of 2019, Hannah was co-writer and executive producer on a semi-autobiographical comedy series for the ABC Network that would take inspiration from Simone’s life and family. The show remains untitled and has no release date scheduled.
Hannah is co-producer, alongside actress Elizabeth Hurley, on a pilot for a new CBS Network sitcom comedy Welcome to Georgia. The show will see Hannah reunited with actor Taran Killam. Taran and Hannah worked together previously on the shows New Girl and Single Parents.
Hannah’s Personal Life
Despite her fame and popularity, Hannah has attempted to keep her personal life as quiet and private as possible. She has often praised and contributed her success as a professional and as a person to her parents. However, she has chosen not to make their names public.
Hannah has done incredible humanitarian work throughout the years. During early adulthood, Hannah would return to India and Kenya to help build schools in some of the more impoverished areas. She also supports and speaks out for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation, the Children’s Defense Fund, and UNICEF.
Hannah quietly married her longtime boyfriend of four years, Canadian Jesse Giddings, during a private ceremony in 2016. The couple would have their first child, a boy, in August 2017.
Just as diverse as his wife, Jesse has been an actor, photographer, designer, and musician. He had worked for the Canadian MuchMusic network as a VJ in 2009. He would go on to co-host the second season of the show X-Factor USA and was a correspondent for the E! Network show E! News.
