In a conversation about captivating supernatural series, Teen Wolf will never fail to make the list. The teen drama is one that has kept us glued to our screens and on the edge of our seats for the six seasons it aired. Unfortunately, as all violent supernatural series turn out to be, it meant the death of some of our favorite actors and their untimely departure from the show. When the character of Crystal Reed, Allison Argent, left the show, we all felt it.
About Crystal Reed
Born on the 6th of February, 1985 in Detroit, Crystal Reed is a prominent American actress. She is of Native American and Polish descent and has an older brother called Corey. The beautiful actress attended Roseville High School, where she was captain of the dance team.
She was interested in theatre from an early age and became an active member of community theatre. This is where she got the chance to star in the musicals Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, and Grease. After graduating high school, she attended Wayne State University, where she enrolled in the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program. She, however, did not follow through with the program as she had doubts if it was what she truly wanted.

Her Character on the Show
Crystal Reed was cast as Allison Argent, the lead character, Scot’s love interest. She came from a very difficult and somewhat unstable family; her father was overly protective of her, and her mother was given fits of rage. She comes from a long line of werewolf hunters, something she only found out after her seventeenth birthday.
At first, she is shocked about her heritage and refuses to be a part of it, but eventually, she warms up to the idea and even starts to train in combat and weaponry seriously. Her mother, Victoria Argent, ends up committing suicide. As the only woman left standing in the Argent Hunter Clan, she becomes their leader as per their matriarchal tradition of leadership.
As the new leader, she champions the other hunters to protect the innocent, whether human or supernatural. She did this for the love of her werewolf pack and friends. Until the end of season three, Argent has a good run as the leader. She is fatally stabbed by an Oni Demon’s sword, giving up her life to save her friends in the process. Her friends continue to honor her by living by her code, ‘We protect those who cannot protect themselves. Her death sealed her departure from the show.

Why She Left the Show
It is always hard to detach from a character we have grown to love, especially when the show is still on. Allison Argent’s death felt like a stab in the chest to all her fans, many of whom were immediately very pissed at the writers for killing her off. However, it was not the showrunners’ decision to have her killed off.
Crystal Reed has revealed that despite her love for the show and her character, she was the one who approached showrunners and asked if she could leave the show. Reed felt that she had reached a point in her career where she wanted to try other things and explore different roles on television and film. She wanted to play a different character other than Allison Argent.
Furthermore, her actual age and that of the character she played on Teen Wolf was something she wanted to change. By season 3, Reed was a 29-year-old woman playing the role of a 17-year-old. Creatively, she felt she had taken the character as far as she had hope to reach.
The executive producer Jeff Davis was incredibly supportive of her and promised that they would give her a great ending, which they did.
Her Feelings on Leaving the Show
While it was her decision to leave, Reed has revealed it was not easy to let go of her character. She went into a week of mourning after her departure since the character had grown to be so special to her. She has spoken on how incredibly proud she is of the character she played and that Allison Argent will always be a part of her.
Crystal Reed has continued to star in many great films since her departure from Teen wolf. If you were a diehard fan of hers, catch her in one of her starring roles in Gotham, Swamp Thing, and Ghostland, amongst many other upcoming films.
