It also follows the drama surrounding all the young adults from the families in Orange County. If you are trying to raise a teenager in this era, I am pretty sure you have wondered at some point, “Where did I go wrong?” Willa Holland plays a character on the O.C. highlights that demonstrates the highs and extreme lows of raising a teenager. It is one hell of a roller-coaster ride, so buckle up!
Who is Willa Holland?
Willa Holland is an American actress and model born on 18th of June in Los Angeles. Her parents, Darnell Gregorio De Palma and Keith Holland divorced while she was still young, and her mother later got remarried to director Brian De Palma. Willa was born into the entertainment industry; her bio dad is a Cinematographer, her mother is an actress, and now stepdad-Director. It’s no wonder she entered the film industry so young.
However, her rising acting career can mostly be credited to Steven Spielberg (her neighbor at the time), who was first to notice her at the age of seven and convinced her stepfather to put her in front of a camera. She made her career debut through modeling. Eventually, she signed with Ford Modelling Agency and was immediately booked for the Burberry shoot. She has modeled for other luxury brands and designers like Ralph Lauren, Gap, Abercrombie & Fitch, and even Guess.

It looks like her stepfather took Steven Spielberg’s advice seriously because she enrolled her in a theatrical talent agency. In 2021 the two worked together in the film Ordinary Madness. She was set to appear in the Fox Series The Inside but did not follow through with the role when Tim Minear overhauled it. She landed the recurring role of Kaitlin Cooper in the O.C. in season 3 and later became a major character in season four.
Willa Holland on the O.C
Willa Holland plays the role of Kaitlin Cooper, daughter of Julie and Jimmy Cooper and the younger sister to Marissa Cooper. She hailed from a wealthy family and grew up in Newport Beach. She spends time riding her pony, China. When the series began, she only made minor appearances at family events. Her family is marred by scandals; her father is accused of misappropriation, and they eventually part ways with her mother, who remarries Caleb Nichol.
Kaitlin is sent away to boarding school in season two and is only heard of in conversations. Her mother claims the move was to get her away from all that was happening within their family and her older sister Marissa.
Why You Should Rewatch the O.C. with Willa Holland in 2021
If you have already watched the O.C. once before, this is your sign to rewatch it. You may have failed to appreciate it, but with this new generation, you will appreciate some insight into the lives of these troubled teens.
She is brilliant in her role.
Willa Holland pulls off her character quite effortlessly, you would think she was playing her real self! From being the young spoilt child who likes to ride her alopecia-stricken pony to the troubled young teen who is always up to some sort of trouble, she owns her role. Making her a main character in season Four was a great decision as she is fun to watch despite her troubled self.

Kaitlin Cooper has a knack for trouble. She is a very problematic teenager who is always up to some sort of mischief. Getting in trouble seems to run in the family; however, Kaitlin takes it to a new level. After she returns from boarding school, a guy named Justin comes to look for her. She claims he is a stalker, but it turns out she stole some money from his brother to help one of her friends procure an abortion.
In season four, the troubled teen starts to act out and practice and exude problematic behavior. She throws parties for her friends without her mother’s consent, steals her mother’s car, and flirts with older men. In short, she is a typical teenager in the 21st Century. Sadly.
She is Fashionable
