From Jesse Plemons to Scott Porter, the NBC drama Friday Night Lights (2006-2011) helped propel the careers of many teen actors who went on to star in multiple films and TV series. Aimee Teegarden joined the cast at the age of 16. She played the role of Julie Taylor, where she earned the Young Hollywood Awards for TV Actress of the year. Since then, Aimee’s acting career has gained momentum and found success on the Hallmark Channel.
Who Is Aimee Teegarden?
Aimee Teegarden (born Aimee Richelle Teegarden) is an American actress, director, producer, fitness enthusiast, and model. She was born on October 10, 1989, in Downey, California, a Los Angeles suburb. Her acting career started in 2003 with a minor role on the CBS police procedural Cold Case (2002-2010). She later appeared on the fantasy series Legend of the Seeker, family comedy Hannah Montana, and teen drama 90210.
In 2005, Aimee graduated from high school through independent study. Later that year, she joined the cast of the Emmy-nominated TV series Friday Night Lights. The show ran from 2006 to 2011. She starred as Julie Taylor. Her character was the eldest daughter of Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler), a high school head football coach, and Tami Taylor (Connie Britton), a high school guidance counselor.

The actress has gone on to take on book roles in popular films and TV series. This attention has recently turned her into a Hallmark star. Here are some notable films and TV series that eventually turned Aimee’s acting career into a Hallmark star:
The CW Star-Crossed (2014 TV Series)
After Aimee’s remarkable role in Friday Night Lights, she went on to star as Emery Whitehill in the American science fiction romantic teen drama TV series Star–Crossed. Created by Meredith Averill, the series premiered on February 17, 2014, and ended on May 12, the same year. It has a total of 13 episodes.
The story revolves around a classic romance between a human girl named Emery and an alien boy named Roman. Roman and six other aliens are integrated into a suburban high school in the fictional town of Edendale, Louisiana. Emery, then a 16-year-old girl living in Edendale, comes across Roman and even helps him survive after his father dies.
There appears to be an immediate attraction between the two. Later, however, a conflict between humans and aliens arises as each race tries to achieve the most power over the other. Throughout the show, Roman feels the pressure of having to choose between his love for Emery and his people.
2016 ABC Series Notorious
Friday Night Lights alumna Teegarden starred as Ella Benjamin in ABC’s drama series Notorious. The drama is centered on the murky relationship between a charismatic defense attorney Jake Gregorian (Daniel Sunjata) and the long-time cable news producer Julia George (Piper Perabo). The duo attempts to manipulate the headlines and public opinion.
As the story continues to unfold, we come across a fatal hit-and-run case involving a teenage boy and millionaire tech wiz Oscar Keaton (Kelvin Zegers). It later emerges that Oscar’s wife Sarah was actually the one who mowed down the boy. The drama is based on the real-life relationship between Mark Geragos, a celebrity criminal defense attorney, and Wendy Walker, a famous Larry King Live producer.
Notorious illustrates the behind-the-scenes of criminal law and the media even in modern times. Teegarden, who appears as the daughter of a convicted felon, is a book-smart and seemingly confident girl. However, she tries to keep her vulnerability under wraps. She becomes a lawyer to prove her father’s innocence in court. Though the show was canceled, Aimee played her role so well that it attracted the fans’ attention.

2017 Paramount Pictures’ Rings
Rings, also known as The Ring: Rebirth, is another movie that did draw Aimee closer to her Hallmark Channel signing and eventual fame. The film sets out on an airplane, where we meet Carter (Zach Roerig) with distressed looks. Seated next to him is Faith (Laura Wiggins), who asks him what the problem is.
Carter replies that a week ago, he watched a video with upsetting images, after which he received a call telling him he had seven days to live, five minutes from that moment. In Rings, Aimee plays a college student, Skype, who becomes one of Samara’s (Bonnie Morgan) targets after she watched the horrible tape.
A professor named Gabriel (Johnny Galecki) tells Skype (Aimee) that the tape came from Carter’s father after he succumbed to injuries from the plane crash. The inevitable encounter between Skype and Samara was one of the most favorite scenes from Paramount Pictures’ Rings. And from that intense scene, Hallmark Channel directors saw the potential in Aimee and later singed her, not knowing she’d become a Hallmark star.
Conclusion
Aimee Teegarden has appeared in many other quality films, including Scream 4, Love and Horror, Prom, and most recently Guest House. She has also appeared in several music videos for Metro Station, Demi Lovato, and Neo Trees. But the vast majority of her fans are really starting to get excited that Aimee is making frequent appearances on the Hallmark Channel.
She has already played leading roles in Once Upon A Christmas Miracle (Dec. 2, 2018) and A New Year’s Resolution (Jan. 9, 2021). Now it remains to be seen what our former teen star has in store for us in the future.
