Yasmine Bleeth is one of the first names to come to mind when thinking of the popular dramatic show, Baywatch. It is now officially June, which means that sand, sun, and bikinis are all we can think about. Summer is just a few weeks away (although summer heat has already made its appearance) and beach trips are on the mind. It just makes sense to take a closer look at the beautiful ocean-side actress, Yasmine Bleeth, and her life before and after Baywatch.
Yasmine Bleeth’s Early Life
Yasmine Bleeth was born in June of 1968. She was born in New York City. Yasmine was interested in acting from a very young age. Her first official role was for a Johnson & Johnson commercial for baby shampoo. This was filmed when she was only ten months old. When Yasmine Bleeth was six years old she appeared on the television show Candid Camera. This was a popular practical joke reality show.
The same year she also was involved in an advertising campaign for the cosmetic company, Max Factor. Her role in this campaign interested none other than Francesco Scavullo. Francesco was a popular fashion photographer. He featured Yasmine Bleeth and her mother in one of his photography books, Scavullo Women.
In 1980, when Yasmine Bleeth was twelve years old, she was cast in her first movie role. She was cast as Theresa O-Brian in Hey Babe! This role fully launched her acting career. Yasmine had several acting gigs after this, especially in soap operas. Unfortunately, however, she did take a short break from acting after her mother died of breast cancer in 1989.
Yasmine Bleeth On Baywatch
In her mid-20s, Yasmine Bleeth was cast on the popular television series, Baywatch. This was a popular soap opera that followed the lives of a group of lifeguards at Malibu Beach in Los Angelos, California. Yasmine Bleeth was cast as Caroline Holden in season four of Baywatch. Caroline was the younger sister of a preexisting character in the popular series.
Yasmine Bleeth was only supposed to appear in one episode of the series. However, after seeing how talented she was, producers made her a reoccurring character in season four. In season five she was officially a part of the main cast. Fans absolutely loved her.
Due to this role, she became a common household name. In 1995, People magazine named her one of the top 50 Most Beautiful People. She was one of FHM’s (a British men’s magazine) 100 Sexiest Women In The World every single year from 1996 to 2001. Additionally, she was on the 100 Sexiest Women list for FHM United States every year from 2000 to 2003. She even temporarily had her own swimwear line called Yaz Wear.
Yasmine Bleeth’s Trouble With Addiction And The Law
Unfortunately, like many other young stars, Yasmine Bleeth struggled with drug addiction. While her drug use started as a recreational pass-time it very quickly became a full-blown addiction. Bleeth would go to a malibu-based rehabilitation center voluntarily in December of 2000. This is where she met her future husband.
The following year, however, Yasmine Bleeth would be arrested in Detroit. She was arrested after driving her car off of a highway. The actress was using cocaine at the time and had several forms of cocaine in her car. She pleaded guilty to the cocaine-related charges and was on probation for two years.
Yasmine Bleeth has been very open about her struggles with drug addiction. She openly admits it will always be a part of her life. Bleeth wrote an article titled “Back from My Drugs Hell” that appeared in Glamour in 2003. In this three-page article, she wrote in detail about her cocaine addiction and how difficult it was. She also wrote about her strenuous road to recovery and how hard it is and always will be to stay sober.
Yasmine Bleeth in Recent Years
Lately, Yasmine Bleeth has not been in the public eye very often. She has very kindly made very charitable donations to various breast cancer charities. She has also worked as a spokesperson for fundraisers for breast cancer research.
While she has not been acting lately, a new role of hers was recently announced. A new horror movie called Beautiful Evil is in the works. Yasmine Bleeth is currently cast as the beautiful baroness in this upcoming film.
Yasmine Bleeth has such an interesting life. She was acting at such a young age. Unfortunately, she struggled with addiction like many other young people in Hollywood. It is really inspiring how she has opened up about this aspect of her life. Addiction is not an uncommon problem and having someone speak so honestly about it can make all the difference for someone currently struggling.
She got through it all and now does wonderful charity work. She is even set to return to acting soon. So put on a red swimsuit, or whatever your personal beach style requires, stay safe, and make this stunning Baywatch actress proud this summer.
