Will Wearing Workout Clothes Help You Workout?

Wearing the right workout clothes can actually help you stay comfortable and cool while you build up a sweat. In fact, some people are choosing to wear exercise clothing in an attempt to increase their chances of breaking a sweat.

It can feel almost impossible to stay active- especially when you are stuck at a desk for 40 hours a week. Even if you have a regular workout schedule in place, just being confined to an office every single day can make you feel like you are getting enough exercise in.

For me, this has been a real struggle. No matter how much I would squeeze in a workout in the mornings and make sure to get a cycling class in at least once during the weekends, I’d leave my desk wishing I had moved my body more. I usually wear casual jeans and a sweater to the office, but what about switching things up and bringing some workout clothes to change into? I gave it a try and here is what I learned.

Increase Your Walking

Just knowing that I was making an effort to move more, I did just that. On average, I take 10,000 steps a day. Most of those steps typically come from my commute to and from work. But, I also try and make sure to make it to the gym in the mornings to ensure that I am moving my body.

However, at the office, it can be hard to actually take a break. Lately, I have been allowing myself just 15 minutes to step outside and walk around. This extra time allows my body to feel alive instead of being confined to a desk every day.

Increase Your Stretching

When it comes to keeping your body feel good, there is nothing better than a healthy stretch. In fact, with all the moving I was doing, my body began to crave stretches. When you allow your body to stretch after a workout- no matter the intensity- you can experience less pain and a great mood boost.

Don’t Limit Your Exercises To The Gym

Besides working out at the gym when I can. I also enjoy the occasional cycling class or run. In fact, my weekends are usually a mix of running around Central Park with my boyfriend or going to a SoulCycle class to really get into my feelings and feel the burn. Whatever I choose to do, I make sure that my body feels good doing it.

As soon as the exercise is done, I instantly feel refreshed and ready to tackle the day- even if that means running errands and writing.

Try Standing Whenever You Can

I take the subway to and from work every day. My commute is about an hour one way. As a result, it can be easy to sit during my commute. However, I am trying to stand more often.

In fact, just by standing more you can see some awesome benefits when it comes to how you feel.

You Feel Healthier Overall

Whether it’s running outside, standing more often, or fitting in an extra exercise class, there are a variety of ways that you can increase your fitness regimen and feel great about it. In fact, it’s not just how you move your body that affects your body. Keeping yourself hydrated with all the activity you are doing is essential in helping you stay healthy and feeling great. There is something about maintaining a healthy lifestyle by exercising that encourages you to engage in other healthier habits, which eventually make your entire day a lot better.
