Sephora is a beauty lover’s Disneyland. With the huge range of makeup brands, organized stores, and helpful sales associates, Sephora is a brand favorite to many. For many loyal consumers, the option of a Sephora credit card is an exciting addition to offering the Beauty Insider loyalty program.
Civic Science published findings that showed Sephora’s loyal consumers outweigh their competitor Ulta’s brand loyalty, especially among teens and the 25-29 age group. Sephora is finally rewarding those consumers with the option to earn a percentage in rewards for those high spenders.
If you are one of Sephora’s loyal consumers and spend significant amounts of money in-store and online, it may make sense to look into their credit card options. Sephora offers three different card options: the Sephora Credit Card, Sephora Visa Credit Card, and Sephora Visa Signature Credit Card.
2021 Resolution: Stick to Your Beauty Regime
Skincare, in particular, has been booming this year. 2020 was the year of being kind to ourselves, with huge amounts spent on self-care. With all that extra time in lockdown, many of us found skincare regimes that leave us feeling and looking good.
Makeup has not suffered during periods of lockdown either. Perhaps we are wearing makeup for our WFH Zoom meetings, or maybe wearing a full face of makeup is all we need to make us feel normal in these difficult times. 2020 was also the year to feel confident experimenting with eye makeup when wearing masks.
2021 is the year of sticking to your tried and tested beauty regimes, so a lot of repeat purchases are to be expected. Therefore, it makes sense to consider a Sephora credit card that will reward those frequent beauty purchases.
As with any credit card, it is important to pay it off in full, so you must be sure you are in the position to do so. While makeup rewards may sound tempting, you should make sure it makes sense for your finances.
Which Sephora Credit Card is Right For Me?
All three credit cards currently offered by Sephora have different benefits and advantages depending on each person’s needs. They each have no annual fee. So, which one is right for you?
It is important to note that the Credit Card can only be used at Sephora stores and their website. Cardholders earn 4% back in rewards on every $1 spent at Sephora U.S. stores (excluding Puerto Rico, Canada, and Sephora inside JCPenney retail stores) or at sephora.com. If you are looking for a card solely for the purpose of spending at Sephora, this is ideal for you.
On the other hand, the Visa Credit Card can be used anywhere that Visa is accepted. Like the other credit cards, you would earn 4% back on every $1 spent in Sephora U.S. stores and website. On top of this, cardholders will earn 1% back in rewards on spend everywhere else.
Finally, the Visa Signature Credit Card is the same as the Visa Credit Card but with added benefits such as Visa Concierge and Visa Signature travel.
Perks of the Sephora Credit Cards
Business Insider listed the Sephora cards as one of the best credit cards for brand loyalists. The list featured other popular brands such as Amazon and Kohl’s.
As well as the percentage rewards, one of the biggest perks is a one-off 15% discount at Sephora when you open a card. If you have a high priced item in mind, such as the Dyson hairdryer ($550), you can save big. Paired with some of the luxury brands that Sephora carries, you can save on multiple high priced items.
Another benefit of the credit card is that you will also receive a $20 reward if you spend $500 outside of Sephora within 90 days of receiving the card.
Disclaimer
If you spend significant amounts of money at Sephora, signing up for one of the credit cards may be the answer. However, the Beauty Insider loyalty program may be more appropriate for anyone who likes makeup but doesn’t envision spending a large amount at Sephora.
The loyalty program is free to join and will give you access to rewards, gifts, and regular savings. The three-tier loyalty rewards depend on how much you spend per year but even a modest amount can add up to free gifts and yearly savings.
