The young Aman Tyler Perry has an incredibly impressive mother. His mother is Gelila Bekele. She is a social activist, a documentary filmmaker, and a beautiful model. Aman Tyler Perry’s mother was born and raised in Addis Ababa which is the capital city of Ethiopia. She spent the first 8 years of her life there before her family moved to Europe.
Gelila Bekele was primarily raised by her grandmother (Aman Tyler Perry’s maternal great-grandmother) because her mother was very young when she had Gelila. Gelila’s grandmother taught her the importance of education. While she was a freshman at the University of California Berkeley, Gelila was discovered and introduced into the world of modeling. She was hesitant to model at first but would become a model for several companies including (but not limited to) Pantene, L’oreal, Levi’s, and H&M.
Aman Tyler Perry’s mother is also a humanitarian and a very strong activist. She has wanted to give back to Ethiopia and Africa in general. She joined Charity: Water. This is a non-profit organization that secures clean and safe water for various communities that do not have access to it. Aman Tyler Perry’s mom is also a huge advocate for girls in Africa having access to educational opportunities.

Similar to his mother, Aman Tyler Perry’s father has also led a very impressive life. His father is the famous actor, screenwriter, producer, and director, Tyler Perry. Perry was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. While he did not graduate from high school he did get his GED.
While many know him for his work in film and television, Aman Tyler Perry’s father actually started his career on stage. Throughout the 1990s, his persistent work in the live theater would help him gain popularity. He would eventually be able to fund his very first movie, Diary of a Mad Black Woman. He has since worked on many other movies and shows. He now even owns his own film and television studio.
His Parents Are Not Together
Aman Tyler Perry’s parents met in 2007 while attending a Prince concert. They hit it off pretty quickly and began dating. They were very private about their relationship and rarely were seen in public together. After seven good years together they welcomed their son, Aman Tyler Perry, in 2014. Gelila told Tyler that she was pregnant over facetime by calling him and holding the test up.
They agreed on so much when it came to raising their son including how much he should be in the public’s eyes (not very much). While things were going really well for a while, in 2020 (13 years after their relationship began) Aman’s parents decided to separate. Similar to their relationship, the two celebrities kept relatively quiet about their breakup.
Despite their breakup, Tyler Perry and Gelila Bekele are very committed to co-parenting Aman Tyler Perry. They both care a lot about their son and are very protective of him so they still want to put his needs first. Co-parenting can be difficult at times but it seems they are both committed to being good parents to their son, as that is their first priority as his mother and father.
How Aman Tyler Perry Feels About Fame
Aman Tyler Perry has two famous parents. In addition to them, he has an incredibly famous godmother, Oprah Winfrey. Oprah often sends Aman Tyler Perry books and other little gifts. He loves these presents a lot according to his dad, especially the books. Aman loves to read and only spends about a half-hour online using an IPad.
Despite being surrounded by famous people though, Aman does not really seem to be swayed by fame. In an interview with Ellen, Aman’s father said he asked his son if he knew what fame was. His son reportedly answered it was when lots of people knew your name. Tyler Perry responded with the fact that by some accounts he was famous, to which Aman hilariously responded “Really? Can we finish coloring now?”
Aman Tyler Perry is still a very young boy as he is only seven years old. His parents are both extremely strong, positive, and impressive role models for their little boy, Aman. They both clearly care about him and others deeply. Aman Tyler Perry will grow up with two very good people raising him.
