On September 3, 2019, Trace Cyrus made a shocking revelation that shed light on his battle with substance abuse. His Instagram post was a somber one, in which he apologized for not being motivated enough to post regularly. He confessed that he had been sober for 44 days, after which he slipped up. He further added that he didn’t feel too great about himself though he didn’t continue drinking after this.

This came when his sister Miley Cyrus was going through a rough patch, thanks to her nasty split with Liam Hemsworth. Trace also expressed that life is hard for everyone; he had resorted to drinking as an escape route. The post also revealed that though he had not been drinking of late, he instead took to other bad habits such as chain-smoking, making him feel guilty.

Ups and Downs in His Personal Life

Trace asserts that the most crucial thing in his life is music, but unfortunately, these vices have rendered him incapable of giving his best to music and exploiting his potential to the fullest. The Shake It singer was counting on his faithful supporters to give him time to grow, work on himself, and emerge to be a better person. He also revealed that he had several music and videos to offer to his fans, but it was not the right time. He was confident of coming back as a much more potent version of himself.

In his personal life, Trace Cyrus has braved many odds even in terms of his relationship. He was once in a romantic liaison with actress Brenda Song. But the duo parted ways after seven years and eventually moved on. Though their relationship did not stand the test of time, they had once shared a beautiful love story.

This is clearly reflected in the fact that even after they split, rumors were doing the rounds on multiple occasions that they were spotted together, were back to being a couple, and so on. In fact, even years after they called off the relationship, Cyrus still nurtured feelings for Song, which found expression through his music. On Valentine’s Day in 2018, Trace Cyrus released a track and declared on social media that his ex inspired his new project. He added that despite breaking up with her the previous year, he cannot deny that she had been an essential part of his life and has inspired him to write several songs during the time they were together.

Working Towards Good Health

Sometime in late-2020, the singer went through a major body transformation, besides keeping at his attempts of staying sober. His Instagram post in October last year revealed that he had been dedicatedly trying to stay clean and healthy while focusing on his daily workouts. This came as a sigh of relief for his fans, given that in early-2020, Cyrus had admitted to relapsing. However, even though it was a long and challenging road, he had at last started his journey towards a better, healthier life.

His physical changes did show signs of recovery, as seen in his bathroom selfie. The shirtless avatar of the Dark Road singer bore testimony to his hard work behind the scenes. Trace Cyrus flaunted his tattoo-covered body that clearly was a healthier version than before and also let his fans know that he had been completely sober for 31 days. Consequently, he could feel his energy coming back, his sleeping patterns getting better, his anxiety has been lessening, and he was feeling stronger than ever before.

It is also heartening to note that Trace and Miley have always shared great sibling bonding despite having troubled personal lives. Fans know that they have always displayed love and solidarity, managed to stick through thick and thin, and supported each other in every phase of life.

We hope Trace Cyrus does not succumb to his demons yet again and manages to stay sober for years to come!
