While most of us joke about wanting to stay in all the time, the reality is not pleasant. With many people in quarantine and a record number of people signing up for unemployment in the United States, almost everyone is stuck at home. And home is boring after a while. Once you’ve watched all the shows on Netflix what are you supposed to do? You can’t go outside or see your friends. So finding things to do inside is an absolute necessity. If you are struggling to keep busy, we have plenty of ways you can entertain yourself during quarantine.
Read a Book
If there is a book you’ve always wanted to read, but never had the time, now is perfect. This is especially true for series and longer books. Go read War & Peace, or Lord of the Rings, or Ulysses. Reading is a perfect way to take your mind off your current isolation and go explore another world. And even though bookstores are closed, major retailers, like Barnes & Noble, are still doing deliveries. Plus there is always the option of getting an ebook or an audiobook. So go read as much as you can.
Write a Book
Why read something when you can write something? It does not even have to be a book, it can be a play or an opera. Writing is an amazing form of creative expression that can help you cope with being stuck inside. Let your imagination run wild, and finally create that story you’ve always had in the back of your head.
We all have home projects that we say we will work on when we have time, but then never do. Now there are no excuses. Go retile your kitchen, or paint the fence, or build Ikea furniture. Your home projects don’t even have to be big ones. You can alphabetize your book shelf or color code you closet. Whatever changes you always wanted to do, do them.
