Born in Lima, Peru, on October 5, 1984, Nathalie Kelley aspired from a young age to make it as an actress. Nathalie moved to Sydney, Australia, with her Peruvian mother and Argentine father at the age of three. In 2016 she would play the role of Sybil on the television series The Vampire Diaries. That role is over now, and Nathalie has moved on to other projects; however, she has taken the lessons she learned as Sybil with her throughout her career.
The Career of Nathalie Kelley
Nathalie got her chance for a lead role in 2005 with a pilot for a show on The WB network. The show, Mermaid, was set in Miami, Florida, and would have seen Nathalie playing the role of the series protagonist Nikki. Unfortunately, changes at the network during that time would keep the project from getting picked up for further episodes.
In 2006, Nathalie would land a role in the adrenaline-fueled action movie The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. From there, she would go onto a number of other roles. In 2008, she was part of the crime drama movie Loaded and, in 2011, would appear in the comedy Take Me Home Tonight. Also, in 2011, Nathalie would try her hand in the horror genre as the lead in the German set film Urban Explorer.
Nathalie would work on the small screen as well. In 2011-2012, she had a role in the series Body of Proof, Unreal in 2015, the final season of The Vampire Diaries in 2016-2017, and the redo of the classic series Dynasty in 2017-2018. In 2020, Nathalie would land the role of Noa Hamilton in the ABC network television series The Baker and the Beauty.
She would find time in 2010 to explore music when she starred as a love interest in the video for Bruno Mars’s song Just the Way You Are. Later in 2012, she would again appear as a love interest in the music video for the band Rhye’s Song For You. Nathalie would yet again play a love interest in the music video for the song Luna Llena by Baby Rasta and Gringo in 2018.
Lessons Learned Along the Way
During her time on The Vampire Diaries, Nathalie Kelley embraced her darker side as the Siren Sybil. The evil scheming character would be at the forefront of the final season, as she controlled the souls of Ian Somerhalder’s character Damon and Michael Malarkey’s Enzo.
The intimidating role proved to be a breeze for Nathalie. A part that might be a challenge for some, Nathalie found playing Sybil fun and enjoyable. She would almost frighteningly find the role came naturally to her! Although the part is a far cry from who she is in real life!
Going into The Vampire Diaries’ final season, Nathalie worried the established stars of the show would be in tight-knit groups and that she may not fit into them. However, she would find the staff welcoming and forge lasting relationships and friendships with many on the set.
Learning a lesson many of us have to the hard way, Nathalie learned you do not mix business with pleasure. She ended up in a relationship with fellow Vampire Diaries castmate Zach Roerig who played a starring role as Matt Donovan on the show. The two had what many thought would be a lasting relationship. However, Nathalie learned it is often best to keep your love life and work-life separate when the two broke up in 2017.
Nathalie’s Personal Life
After Nathalie’s break up with Roerig in 2017, she would go on to meet her future husband later that year. Towards the end of 2017, she began dating Jordon Burrows, who she met through mutual friends while back home in Australia.
The two seemed a natural fit together and quickly became engaged. They made things official when they married on April 29, 2018. Unfortunately, a romance that seemed destined to last would come to an end in 2020 when the couple would separate.
Active on social media, you can find Nathalie Kelley on a number of social media accounts. You can enjoy her over 470 posts on Instagram, at natkelley, with her over one and a half million followers. If Twitter is more of your thing, you can find Nathalie there at natkelley with around 56-thousand followers.
A slow-rising star is still a star. Nathalie Kelley may not have the vast catalog of acting credits as other actresses in Hollywood, but she is a consistent worker. Choosing projects that interest her the most, Nathalie pours herself into every role she takes. This shows with a presence and depth to characters that leave a lasting impression on audiences. Nathalie is still a young talent whose acting ceiling is nowhere in sight!
