As a member of one of the biggest boy bands in history, Joey Fatone has stayed in the spotlight within the music and film industry over the years. He got second place on Dancing With the Stars in 2007, hosted the Singing Bee, and competed on The Masked Singer’s first season. He is currently active as an actor and television personality but is most famous for his baritone role in NSYNC. It’s been almost 20 years since they disbanded, so here is a list of his best moments to remind you why millions of people fell in love with him!
The 11 Most Memorable Joey Fatone Moments
NSYNC was active for seven years and actually began their career in Europe. They became popular in the U.S. in 1997 and have been a household name ever since. Certified diamond albums, multiple Grammy Awards nominations, and performances at the Olympic Games and Super Bowl are just a few of their achievements.
Joey Fatone was an integral member of the group and consistently impressed fans with his stellar vocals, crazy fashion, and great personality. Here are some of the most memorable moments from his NSYNC days that we will never forget!
When He Became An Actor
Joey Fatone starred in the 2001 film, Ready to Fall alongside his band member, Lance Bass. His best scene was when he played the guitar and crooned out the movie’s title song during the open mic night. He was dreamy and a true musician. How could anyone not fall in love with him?
When Everyone Thought Frosted Tips Were Cool
One of the most memorable hairstyles of the 2000s was the frosted tips, and it seems as if every singer went through this phase. Joey was no exception and sported the look during his boyband days. Being a brunette, though, only made him look even stranger. In hindsight, it’s not a good look on him, but back then, we were all obsessed with it!
His Extra Long Coats
It seems like Joey got the short end of the stick when it comes to NSYNC’s fashion. He often had the strangest red carpet looks, but his two most famous ones were the coats: a red, plasticky one and a Cruella de Vil-inspired one. Even though they were so bizarre, he rocked them!
When They Performed Celebration
It was like Joey was the star of the show–he appeared at the top of the stage, wearing a white suit and fedora. As if the fedora weren’t enough, he also wowed us with his amazing vocals. It’s definitely a performance you can watch again and again!
Their 2000 MTV VMA Performance
This was such a show-stopping performance from NSYNC because it was the first time artists really used high-tech features on stage. The holograms and videos were so cool, and people couldn’t stop talking about it. Joey, of course, killed it during their “Bye Bye Bye” and “It’s Gonna Be Me” sets. His singing and dancing were always top-tier!
His Flaming Red Hair
The stylists decided to dye his hair a bright red to go along with his terrible red carpet fashion. People even compared him to Ronald McDonald! Somehow, though, he managed to pull it off–even when it was all spiked up, or he was dressed head-to-toe in red. It was definitely his most iconic look and a fan-favorite.
When They Sang Happy Birthday to Rosie O’Donnell
While on Rosie’s show, NSYNC busted out an acapella version of the Happy Birthday song. Their harmonies blended seamlessly and are so pleasing on the ears. Joey especially shined during his solo parts of the song. It’s always so nice to hear him sing acapella! He and his bandmates got so much love and praise for their talents just from this short song.
The “No Strings Attached” Dance Performance
This song was upbeat and a crowd favorite, especially since they wore amazing outfits on stage. Joey Fatone in a sleeveless top, sweaty from dancing and hip thrusting? Yes, please! Looking back now, the dance moves are a little funny, but he still wows us every time!
The 2000 Latin Grammys
At the first-ever Latin Grammy Awards, NSYNC performed a duet of the song, “Yo Te Voy Amar.” They sang this beautiful song in Spanish and did a fantastic job. Singing in a foreign language is difficult, so props to them for pulling it off. As always, Joey’s voice brought a lovely tone and color to their harmonies. This is a performance that fans always mention over and over again!
The Super Bowl XXXV Halftime Show
One of NSYNC’s most epic performances was during their 2001 Super Bowl performance. They shared the stage with Aerosmith and Britney Spears in one awesome Halftime Show. They were nicknamed The Kings of Rock and Pop, and they definitely impressed everyone. This was when Joey was rocking the frosted tips, so his appearance is even more memorable.
Their 2001 MTV Awards Performance
This stage is, without a doubt, one of their best. They featured a surprise performance by Michael Jackson! Everyone went crazy during the show and couldn’t stop talking about it. Joey came out on a motorcycle, wearing a sleeveless top and his beloved frosted tips. If that isn’t legendary, what is?
Over the years, NSYNC has reunited on stage for some surprise performances. There have been talks of getting together one last time, so we might be able to see Joey Fatone in his NSYNC role once again! We will be patiently waiting for that day, but until then, we have all of his old performance videos and photos to look through to keep us entertained!
