Frankies Bikinis was born when LA-native Francesca Aiello was frustrated with the options currently on the market for bikinis. Francesca was a self-confessed “picky” shopper when it came to bikinis, and began traveling to Hawaii to get bikinis custom-made. The now-entrepreneur would bring back bikinis for her friends who would post their favorites on Instagram.
Shortly after, Francesca was inspired to create her own perfect bikini brand in 2012 after receiving praise from posting her own designs on Instagram. Impressively, Francesca was the youngest designer to be featured at Miami Swim Week in 2014, and her brand has since captured the attention of celebrities. While there are many things we love about Frankies Bikinis, the fact that the founder is a creative female entrepreneur is definitely up there.

Frankies Bikinis are designed in Malibu and made in both Los Angeles, California, and Bali, Indonesia. According to Frankies Bikinis FAQ, their swimwear consists of the highest quality fabrics and delicate crochet details. The bikinis’ fabric is a blend of 79% Nylon + 21% Spandex.
Frankies Bikinis is increasingly offering sustainable fabrics, with their first entirely sustainable collection introduced in June 2020. Frankies Bikinis makes sustainable pieces from eco-friendly fabric by the name of Amni Soul Eco®. The inspiration for the sustainable collection came from Francesca and her love and respect for the environment, the ocean, and the outdoors.

In addition to being loved by celebrities, Frankies Bikinis have even collaborated with it-girl and socialite, Sofia Richie. Sofia Richie teamed up with Frankies Bikinis to design her own collection of bikinis. The collection was everything we hoped it would be.
Francesca Aiello described Sofia as exuding confidence and femininity and therefore was the perfect person to represent the brand. The Californian native embodies the free-spirited, playful style of the brand. Sofia debuted the collaboration on Instagram when she shared snaps from her luxurious and carefree trip to Cabo for her 22nd birthday.
Frankies Bikinis invited their consumers to read their blog which shares details of the exciting 10 piece collection. Francesca described working with Sofia as “a breeze” as their “personal style and taste link up perfectly.” Francesca put this down to the fact that they both grew up living the typical California girl lifestyle.
Frankies Bikinis Believes in Inclusivity
In addition to creating the chicest beachwear we’ve ever seen, Frankies Bikinis is passionate about inclusivity and equality. The brand released a pride collection. 20% of proceeds from the collection were donated to Stonewall Community Foundation, an organization that offers support to the LGBTQ+ community.
Francesca was the first person who her brother came out to as gay when he was 18 years old, and since then Francesca has made it her mission to make the world more supportive of everyone, regardless of their sexuality. Francesca and her brother modeled for the collection, which featured extra colorful prints and tie-dye.
