Evan Mock Before ‘Gossip Girl‘

24-year-old Evan Mock has a pretty cool upbringing and grew up a little differently than many of us. He grew up in Waimea Bay, Oahu, in Hawaii where he says he loves to surf and skate around. He describes his upbringing as a fantasy, as he was homeschooled so he was able to enjoy his youth and not be in school all day. Things changed when his friend submitted a video of him skating and sent it to Frank Ocean.
Unbeknownst to him Frank Ocean sees the video and puts the video online giving Mock overnight fame. Frank Ocean posting this video helps Mock, because he already has his eyes set on working somehow in the entertainment field hoping for a career in fashion. In no time, Mock is working modeling for the big leagues in fashion! These big fashion houses include Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, Dior, Bulgari, and more.
Launching His Own Line

Despite working as a model Evan Mock also has his own clothing line “Sorry In Advance.” This clothing reflects Evan Mock’s personal style of the “skater boy” with hoodies, tees, caps, and hoodies too. Also, he has a collection with RVCA selling a couple of hoodies and graphic t-shirts with them in the collection. His brand “Sorry In Advance” has 35k followers which is very impressive for such a young designer.
A pretty cool moment in Mock’s life was getting to also collaborate with his friend Justin Bieber doing a collection for “Sorry In Advance.”
Aside from his fashion brand and working with Justin Bieber he also has other career aspirations. Mock enjoys working within photography, he even did a two-week gig photographing for Travis Scott. Within the two weeks, he was working photographing and documenting behind-the-scenes moments of Travis Scott’s Astroworld Europe tour.

Now that we know a little more about the star of Gossip Girl let’s learn about his role within the reboot. When interviewing with Vanity Fair he describes the new reboot as “woke” which is a bit different than the original. Within Gossip Girl, we saw a predominately white cast of rich kids living on the Upper East Side.
“Blair was a white girl boss who had these little minions, and they’re people of color, Asian.” He says when speaking of Blair Waldorf who was the popular, queen bee of the school in the original show. When it comes to his own character Akeno, he is a young boy still exploring his sexuality at the moment. Mock has talked about what it’s like playing a bisexual character as a straight male, especially doing sex scenes.
One scene that was a bit awkward for him to film is the threesome scene with his character’s girlfriend Audrey and their friend Max.
“It was definitely interesting. Obviously, by the time we filmed the scene, I’d known [Lind and Doherty] for a few months and we’d gotten pretty close,” Mock said. “We were just experiencing it together. It’s always awkward, and it’s always weird, but Claire, the intimacy coordinator, delegated during the awkwardness and answered all our questions. It was just nice to feel comfortable in that situation when I didn’t think I would at all.” he tells The Wrap.
Conclusion
The show is currently still airing episodes on HBO Max so you can for sure catch-up! When it comes to Evan Mock and his character Akeno, it seems Akeno is still dealing with his sexuality and family issues. We totally recommend the show if you are curious and want to watch Mock play his role effortlessly.
