The best products for revitalizing your skincare routine, eliminating ingredients that cause more harm than good to your skin.

I first discovered Drunk Elephant a few years ago as an impulse buy in Sephora when I was waiting in line. The bright blue bag caught my eye. Included inside the bag were the mini products “Night Bright Duo” (a serum and facial oil).  At just $28 with a value of $43, I thought I would give it a go.

Since then, the brand has been seen everywhere from Drew Barrymore’s Instagram to countless beauty bloggers’ YouTube channels. Unsurprisingly, Drunk Elephant has developed a cult following.

Clean & Simple

The packaging is clean and simple, just like the ingredients. The founder, Tiffany Masterson, a self-confessed beauty “brand-hopper”, revealed she wanted to create a brand that helped her problematic skin where other brands had failed. After looking closely at the ingredients of skincare products, she kept seeing the same questionable six ingredients.

Tiffany named these ingredients the ‘Suspicious Six’. The ‘Suspicious Six’ includes silicones, essential oils, chemical screens, SLS, drying alcohols, and fragrance/dyes. The much-loved brand has worked to eradicate these ingredients. With an almost scientific approach to skincare, Drunk Elephant is striving for a skin reset without these dubious ingredients.

One of the first things that struck me about the brand is the unique name, Drunk Elephant. The brand is named after the Marula fruit ingredient in its Marula Oil product. The marula fruit is eaten by elephants, and there is evidence that the marula is fermented inside the elephant’s large stomachs, making the elephants feel a drunk effect.

The Virgin Marula Facial Oil comes in two sizes and is perfect for anyone with issues with fine lines and wrinkles, dryness, dullness, and uneven texture. The luxury oil is rich in critical antioxidants with omegas 6 and 9 that moisturizes, nourishes, and visibly balances while restoring a youthful-looking glow.

One of the most popular products is the allusive TLC Sukari Babyfacial mask.  It is allusive because fans of the brand can’t buy it in countries other than the US and Hong Kong.  Drew Barrymore is particularly a fan of this product, as she champions it for instant results. Winner of Harpers Bazaar, 2019 Anti-Aging Award, the lightweight mask resurfaces skin to visibly reveal greater clarity, improves skin texture and tone, and gives a more youthful-looking appearance.

Just as every product is meant to be used together, for best results Drunk Elephant recommends using Marula Oil after washing it off to lock in the benefits.

Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum

Described as “a cool drink of water for thirsty skin”, this hydrating and lightweight serum replenishes the complexion and improves the look of skin texture and tone. Perfect for normal, oily, dry, and combination skin, the serum eliminates skincare concerns from fine lines and wrinkles to uneven texture.

In fact, the Pineapple Ceramide within the product boosts luminosity and improves the appearance of the skin‘s texture and tone. Furthermore, the highlighted ingredients include Provitamin B5, which attracts hydration to the skin and holds it there, visibly improving the skin‘s barrier function.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum

The night serum resurfaces congested skin by lifting away dead skin cells to visibly improve skin tone, texture, fine lines, wrinkles, and pores. Similarly, the ingredients work to exfoliate built-up dead skin cells. This resurfaces dull, uneven skin for a smoother, brighter, and more even-looking complexion.

Likewise, the salicylic acid in the product also works to unclog pores. Additionally, the raspberry fruit extract hydrates and soothes skin while fighting free-radical damage with antioxidants.

Like many of their products, the day serum works to eradicate fine lines and wrinkles, dullness, and uneven texture. In addition, the product improves the loss of firmness and elasticity in the skin. The Vitamin C day serum is packed with antioxidants, nutrients, and fruit enzymes to visibly firm, brighten and improve signs of photoaging.

The product also works to dissolve dead surface skin cells, minimizing the appearance of pores. If that’s not enough, the much-loved day serum also contains a chronopeptide, which mimics the antioxidant benefits of vitamin D for more youthful-looking skin.

Drunk Elephant The Littles

The idea behind Drunk Elephant is that you make a “cocktail” of different products to match your skin’s needs. This involves squirting a mixture of serums, creams, and oils into the palm of your hand. Ultimately, every person’s skin reacts differently. However, there is likely to be a perfect combination for everyone.

While it might take some time and patience for your ideal skincare cocktail, Drunk Elephant really has revitalized skincare. If you are unsure where to begin, I would suggest starting with The Littles. The Littles are mini versions of their popular products to see what works for you.

Not to mention that the brand looks great on a bathroom shelf, but their customer service team is always busy on social media answering any questions you might have about which products mix well together.  The Drunk Elephant Instagram regularly shares consumers’ makeup-free selfies, who have gained the confidence to go makeup-free since using the products.  Also, Drunk Elephant is so confident in their winning formula for skincare that if you are not satisfied with the products you can return them to get a full refund, therefore there really is every reason to believe the hype.
