Bushwick has become an increasingly popular place to live in the past few years. Along with the influx of people, there are some great bars for Bushwick residents to hang out at. But Bushwick bars are so much more than other bars around New York. When you have the entire city, why go to the bars in Bushwick? The bars there set themselves apart from the rest of the city with their laid back hipster aesthetics and fancy drinks. Here are the best places you should check out and why.
The Best Bushwick Bars
Boobie Trap
You’ll go in for the drinks, but stay for the games. Boobie Trap is filled with board games such as Monopoly and Jenga. You can have a full-on game night while you are out on the town with friends. The atmosphere is laid back and perfect for anyone trying to have a chill night out. Plus they have hair-ties in the bathroom in case you need to throw up. They clearly understand the needs of their clientele. It is a great place for adult game night, or just getting a happy hour drink with friends.
Dromedary Urban Tiki Bar
Sometimes you need a little taste of island life in the big city. Dromedary has the perfect mix of beach and urban life. Every drink they serve comes in a different specialized glass that may look like a pineapple or light up. It’s a great combination of technology and beach living. But they are great for more reasons than their fun cup. The Dromedary Urban Tiki Bar also has a dance floor. You can show off all your best moves, or just hang out at a table with friends. They also hold karaoke events, and who doesn’t love a good karaoke night? There are tons of ways to enjoy this bar, so there is no reason not to go.
Birdy’s
A lot of bars today try to be trendy or themed, but Birdy’s is the classic dive bar we all need. It has a vintage punk aesthetic with its disco ball and throwback lighting that will have you feeling right at home. Plus they have foosball and a collection of pinball machines. Birdy’s is a great place to hang out, whether that means playing a game or just having a beer with a friend.
Bushwick Public House
Bushwick Public House is a great place to go if you want to feel like a true Brooklyn hipster. This place is so much more than a bar. During the day it becomes a cafe so you can get you fresh brewed coffee, before it transforms into a bar at night. It is a chill place to hang out at any time of day. You and your friends can play a game of pool, or you can just hang out. They also do events at night. You can catch some great live music while drinking some of the best whiskey around.
Sunrise/Sunset
Sunrise/Sunset is completely different from what you think about when you imagine a bar. And it is so much better. They are a wine bar where you can go try some of the best independently made wines around. You can sip the finest rosé while ordering some brunch with friends. Along with their wine and food selection, they are also a great place to do some grocery shopping. They have fresh produce that you can go in and buy, or get them delivered if you live nearby. This place redefines what it means to be a bar in the classiest way possible.
What we Learned about Bushwick Bars
Location
Most of the Bushwick bars are not, in fact, in Bushwick. The best bars teeter on the edge between Bushwick and Ridgewood, but are technically located in the latter of the two. Although Bushwick is known for its bars, most of the best bars are truly in Ridgewood. But we still love these bars no matter how you define their location.
They’re Chill
If you are looking for somewhere to go clubbing, don’t go to Bushwick. With a few exceptions, most of the bars are laid back. Even those that have dance floors or focus on events retain their laid back atmospheres. They are great places to grab a bear with friends and catch up, or maybe even see some live music. But if you want to do body shots and dance on tables head to Manhattan.
Not Just For Nighttime
Bushwick Bars embody the saying that “it’s 5 o’clock somewhere.” You don’t need to feel like you need to get drunk early in the day, but you can definitely go to these bars. Go for fresh fruit, or coffee, or even some entertainment. Whatever your occasion, it is always a good idea to check out these bars.
