How Long Does Microblading Last and What to Expect from The Procedure

Thinking about getting microblading for your eyebrows but not sure how it’s going to go? With something like this, it’s natural for questions to pop up in your head. For example, you may be wondering how long microblading last!

It’s also important to know what exactly to expect if you’re planning on getting this procedure done! Look no further, because we’re here to fill you in on what exactly goes in with microblading!

A Beauty Tattoo

Although the idea of creating similar lines along the skin may have dating back thousands of years, the eyebrow coloring is quite new to the beauty industry. It’s been around for about 25 years now and has become such a popular technique for eyebrow shaping!

What Exactly Is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattooing to the eyebrows in order to give them the desired shape without having to keep up with the work!

However, one thing that differs between microblading and a tattoo, is the tools that they are using for each. Microblading uses a small tool consisting of multiple needles, whereas a tattoo makes use of the needle gun. The main purpose of using the multiple needle method is to be able to pierce and mark the skin while giving off the appearance of hair on the brows!

Another huge thing that differs when it comes to microblading, is the results that come from the tools being used. Many people prefer it compared to other eyebrow maintenance methods. It’s convenience and overall look come to shine, especially when comparing to plucking, tweezing, waxing, and threading!

Why Do It?

So you may be wondering, why to choose to do to microblading! Well, when it comes down to it, the main reason lies in the maintenance! For some people, it can take quite a while to get that perfect eyebrow shape!

Whether you’re just doing your makeup or tweezing and plucking, you always want your eyebrows to match (or at least look somewhat similar)!

It allows you to have a natural-looking and healthy eyebrow shape without you having to do it yourself! Forget needing to touch up your brows throughout the day because, with this method, they’re already perfect!

How Much Does It Cost?

However, there are a few things you need to know before you go running out to get this procedure. First things first, we need to talk about cost, which may be the deciding factor for you!

I’m going to be honest with you: microblading does not come cheap. It really an investment to make, so it’s important to think about (sand save up) if you decide that you want to get this procedure done!

Keep in mind that an appointment and job done by some of the best in the business can cost upwards of $2,000. Yes. You heard me right. However, if you’re going to be doing something like this, you’re not going to want to settle for a quick and cheap job.

As with a tattoo, if it is done incorrectly, the risks can definitely outweigh the benefits.  Because it is involving the breaking of the skin, you want to make sure that the equipment they are using is nothing but the best, giving you the best (and safest results)!

However, it’s important to do your research! If properly done, you will find there are some places that do just as good if a job for a fraction of the cost. Using sites such as Groupon can sometimes get you amazing deals! Although still not cheap, you can probably find a pretty good facility that does it for around $500!

How Long Does It Last?

As I just previously mentioned, one of the main appeals to this method is the lack of maintenance that really goes into it. Not only is the filling and shaping already done for you, but they will last for a good chunk of time!

How long you may ask? Well, it’s important to mention that because microblading is a form of a semi-permanent tattoo, that it may last longer than what you’d imagine!

One of the great things about this method is its longevity. Once you get the work done, it can last anywhere between 12 to 18 months, depending on your skin type. If your skin tends to be more oily, the length of the pigment will probably be on the shorter side compared to those with normal skin. However, it’s still a year that you do not have to worry about touching, filling or plucking your brows!

What To Expect of the Procedure

So you’re probably wondering, what exactly is this procedure? Is it going to hurt or take a long time?

What is usually the first step in the process is applying a numbing agent to the eyebrows in order to prevent you from feeling any pain during this procedure. Once this agent settles in, it’s time to get started!

The procedure is performed by doing quick and light strokes with the needle tool that is being used. The actual procedure itself can take anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the amount of work that needs to be done in order to get that perfect shape!

It’s important that I mention that this procedure also requires two appointments to complete the look! When scheduled around 5 weeks after the first, the second appointment allows the artist to make any corrections after it properly heals!

Another great thing about this procedure is the short healing time. In just 2-3 weeks, you have beautiful, natural looking eyebrows!
