With the way the world is going, we could all use a fun DIY craft in our lives! Whether you love to sew, paint or tye dye, we all have that little kid in us that loves to craft!

If you’re a mom that needs to keep their kids entertained or you’re simply just bored at home, then look no further! I have come up with a list of some amazing fun DIY crafts that you can do at home!

1. Bleached Sweatsuit Set

One of the biggest recent fashion trends of 2020 is the matching bleached sweatsuit set! It’s cozy, cute, and most of all, it’s comfortable! Although high end fashion labels are selling the sets for a high price, you can do it yourself at home with this fun DIY!

What You Will Need:

  • Dark-colored sweatshirt/sweatpants
  • Household bleach
  • Pair of rubber or plastic gloves
  • Rubber bands
  • Laundry detergent
  • Spray Bottle (optional)

Your instructions are as followed:

  1. Make sure to wear rubber/plastic gloves to protect yourself. Work in an open area.
  2. Fold and twist your sweatshirt and fasten/secure with rubber bands.
  3. In the plastic bucket, prepare a mixture of 1 part bleach to 1 part water.
  4. Let the sweatshirt sit in the bleach mixture for about 10 minutes, or until you are satisfied with the color change.
  5. Remove the rubber bands and rinse the sweatshirt thoroughly. Wash with mild detergent and rinse as normal.

2. Make Drinking Glasses Out Of Old Bottles

This next craft is actually one that I learned from the app Tik Tok! Have old wine/beer bottles laying around? Turn them into unique and reusable drinking glasses with household items!

What You Will Need:

  • Bottle
  • Acetone
  • Small dish/bowl for acetone
  • Rag or towel
  • Yarn or string
  • Lighter
  • Sandpaper

Your instructions are as followed:

  1. Choose an empty bottle or drink/empty contents of new bottle.
  2. Create an ice bath.
  3. Pour acetone into your small dish or bowl.
  4. Cut yarn and wrap bottle (yarn needs to wrap around the bottle 4-6 times).
  5. Soak yarn in acetone.
  6. Wrap yarn back over your bottle where you want the cut to be.
  7. Light yarn on fire.
  8. Submerge in ice bath – the top of the bottle should pop off where the yarn was wrapped around (this may take a couple of tries)!
  9. Sand the edges and ta-da! Time to try your new glass!

3. Embroidery

Another omg of my favorite fun DIY ideas is embroidery! I love it because it’s relaxing and very therapeutic! Not to mention, you can get some amazing results from embroidery!

Whether you want to add your own flair to a sweatshirt, pillow, or t-shirt, embroidery is a fun DIY that allows you to customize your own clothes! Try it out for yourself with this beginner embroidery kit!

To get started, make sure you have a variety of different colored threads and needle sizes, depending on what material you are going to be working with! Convert your design to an embroidery pattern maker and transfer using a washable fabric marker! Follow the stitch design with your needle and thread!

4. Macrame

Have a blank space on your wall that needs some decorating? Try out some macrame for a fun DIY that doubles as some wall decor!

If you’ve never tried macrame before, it’s a form of textile design that uses knotting techniques on cords made from cotton, twine, hemp, etc. Purchase a DIY kit here or learn how to make it yourself by watching the video below! Happy knotting!

5. Calligraphy

Calligraphy is considered to a “visual art” that is related to writing. If you’re unsure of what that means or you’ve never heard of calligraphy it’s a design using a particular brush to execute lettering!

Calligraphy can be applied to many different things in your everyday life! Writing invitations? Try sprucing them up with calligraphy titles! Or, if you’ve been wanting to start that bullet journal, make it aesthetically pleasing by adding it to the tops of your pages!

Although calligraphy itself is not hard to learn, it is hard to master. There are so many different styles of calligraphy that can be used! Purchase a beginner’s calligraphy kit here, which includes the special paper, pens, and other materials needed to master this amazing art form!

6. Paint by Numbers

Looking to add a pop of art to your home? Well now you paint your own! With paint by numbers of course! What was once one of my favorite things to do as a kid has now become a fun DIY that is perfect for those of us who lack a little artistic ability!

One of my favorite thins about paint by numbers for adults is how real they look! Once they are completed, they can look like a real painting with no visibility of the outlines and numbers! Although it can be tedious, it’s a great way to relieve stress and to create something for yourself or even for others! Check out a wide variety of paint by numbers designs here!

7. Create Your Own Rug

Another fun DIY that is similar to crocheting or knotting is latch-hook! Never heard of latch-hook? It’s a process used to create rugs in which loops of yarn or fabric are pulled through a stiff base such as linen or burlap!

Looking for a new welcome mat? Or something to put on the floor by your bathroom sink? Try making your own! Not only is it super fun, but it can save you a little bit of money! Order a blank base to customize your design or purchase a premade design, such as this smiley face or dog!

8. Bookmarks

Another one of my favorite things to do is make bookmarks by using household objects! Use a pom-pom tied to a piece a string or draw your own design on some colored construction paper! It’s the perfect easy and fun DIY for all ages!

9. Beading/Jewelry

A classic fun DIY that I love is beading or jewelry making! Whether you’re using thread, lanyard or twine, creating your own jewelry can be the perfect way to showcase your own style and give gifts to friends!

I know that when I was a kid, I would try to learn a new way to make friendship bracelets almost every day! I had a box for all my lanyard and would spend all day beading and braiding with my friends! It’s the perfect way to pass time and get something cute out of it!
