New year, new you. Why not give yourself a bit of pampering as we shake off the dust of 2020 and look to something greater? Luckily, there are plenty of fun beauty trends to try out. You might recognize some of these trends from years past (old habits die hard), but some are brand new to this year. Here’s our list of top trends to be on the lookout for.

1. Lash Growth Serums

Falsies have been on trend for some time, but what about harnessing the natural power of your lashes? Right now, we’re seeing the trend of using a lash serum to enhance what mother nature gave you. It’s definitely possible to get huge volume and length without gluing on extensions. All you need to do is integrate some eyelash serum into your skincare routine. Eyelash growth serum can give you longer and darker-looking lashes when you use it every night. You’ll quickly start to see lash growth like never before.

2. Throwback Nails

While we’ve been in quarantine, many of us have taken to testing out nail art. It looks like that trend will culminate in a revival of retro nails. Experts anticipate vintage vibes being a huge player in nail fashion. This means you can expect earthy color palettes with plenty of chocolates and browns paired with traditional wavy lines and swirls. If you’re trying this at home, make sure you use a peel-off latex cuticle guard to protect the rest of your fingers while you’re doing your artwork.

3. More Transparent Skincare

These days, people care more and more about what they’re using on their face and body. One study from the NPG Group found that 46 percent of respondents sought out products that were gluten-free, phthalates-free, or sulfate-free. Additionally, 50 percent of women researched skincare products online before buying them in a store. All of this means that we’re likely to see brands being more transparent about what’s in their formulas. Be prepared for packaging and branding that points out how clean or sustainable a product really is.

4. Skinimalism

For a while there, contouring and bronzing were the name of the game. Now though, it looks as though we’re on a return to skinimalism. Pinterest has noted there’s been a 180 percent increase in the searches for the term “natural everyday makeup.” Much of this might be because of the pandemic — we haven’t had to go out as much, so we embraced our natural beauty instead. This trend means people may be using less complicated makeup routines and instead be opting for more intensive skincare regimens to help their natural beauty shine through.

5. Funky Eyeliner

While some people might be taking a break from makeup, others are upping the ante with bold and bright eyeliner choices. While the classic cat-eye will still be in style, new trends might include using mismatched colors, adding glitter, or even pumping up the lower lash line. Many of these looks will draw inspiration from the ’80s, so expect your fair share of baby blues and neon fun.

Embrace the Trends You Love

Whether you’re interested in a lash growth serum or want to find cleaner products to use on your face, you’ll see there are a ton of new beauty trends on the horizon. Find the ones that you love and treat yourself, because you’re worth it.
