Many know Sky Landish as the Love & Hip Hop New York star engaged to acclaimed Hot 97 DJ Drewski. Landish is more than a star on a television show—she is a fitness enthusiast and dedicated business woman. She is also the true definition of an NYGal, born and raised in Manhattan.
Strip N’ Fitness is Landish’s fitness brand. The Strip N’ Fitness philosophy is for attendees to have a fun time while working out. Therefore, guests will workout and party at the same time. DJ Drewski, of course, scratches the tunes for the party while Landish works out with everyone attending.
“I’m so proud of the way Strip N’ Fitness has grown in one year,” said Drewski. “I’ve actually gotten healthier just watching the growth of Sky following her dreams in the health and fitness world.”
If you currently follow Landish on social media, you’ll know that she posts videos of her training at the gym, a recap of what vegan-friendly meal she’s had to eat, or a roundup of the Strip N’ Fitness parties she throws at different studios across the country.
Although Landish travels to different cities in the U.S. to throw her Strip N’ Fitness parties, she will finally open the doors to the official space on April 29 in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
Here’s a Q & A with Landish on Strip N’ Fitness and her grand opening:
What inspired you to start your own fitness company and why did you choose Elizabeth as the home base?
I started my own fitness company to motivate other people. I wanted to show people that you can change your whole life if you make a point to be your best self. I also wanted to show people you don’t have to be a lifetime athlete or a body builder to make fitness your life and your love. I wanted to prove that weight-loss can get recognition in the fitness industry too and build a home around that. I chose Elizabeth, New Jersey because there are no female-oriented fitness studios there and I wanted to provide that to the city.
Details on Strip N’ Fitness’s Grand Opening:
We will have the room set up into different stations so the workout floor will be sectioned off for two classes within the three-hour party. Therefore, 15-20 ladies will try the class while everyone else in attendance will be watching and enjoying the rest of the room. The activities for the event are as followed:
- A 30-minute cardio kickboxing class by @Sheis_patricia
- A 30-minute NamasDrake Yoga session with All Drake tunes by @brittorstrup
- One room will be a full photography set up for ladies to go in and take photos in their fitness gear (since I feel many women don’t get to take professional photos while looking fit).
- One room will be set up to do testimonial interviews for women who have lost weight or have compelling stories etc.
-We will have resistance band giveaways throughout the event from @Fitsimplify
- Vegan food by Blueberry Cafe in Newark @blueberryvegancafe
- Healthy Juices from Just Juice NJ @justjuice_nj
- Skinny Margaritas from Yave Tequila @yavetequila
And possibly more things!
What are you looking forward to with the opening? Do you have a lot of members already, if so, how many so far?
I’m mostly looking forward to people enjoying the space. I want people to fall in love with it the way I have since it’s a very creative atmosphere with dope lighting. We aren’t a membership gym, and classes are sold on a class basis which I feel creates less pressure. We will officially open on May 1st!
What classes will you be offering on a regular basis and why these specific classes?
Monday through Friday we will have classes at 6:30 pm, 7:30 pm, and 8:30 pm. On Saturday, we will have classes at 2:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 4:30 pm.
Our class list currently consists of Trap Fit, R&B Yoga, The Vixen Workout, #Eyeboxfit, Afro Fit, Cardio Kickboxing and more.
The Strip N’ Fitness grand opening will be on April 29 from 4 pm to 7 pm. For more information on Landish and Strip N’ Fitness, search for @skylandish and @stripnfitness on Instagram. To RSVP for the grand opening event, email info@stripnfitness.com.
