We get it. Sometimes, it doesn’t make sense to get out of the city and head to the Hamptons for a quick getaway. You have too much work to do, or your pet is getting a bit too old and can’t make the trip anymore, or the worst offense to grace the summer, the weather is forecasting rain and it’s not worth making the trek.
However, just because you can’t get out of the city, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take some quality rest and relaxation time for yourself!
The best part about living in a city is that…we live in a city. We can go anywhere, get anything and experience everything within the realm of our five boroughs.
If you’re staying in the city for your mini-vacay, we have some recommendations that will transform your home into the home-away-from-home you’ve always dreamed of.
Spa Days
Maybe you go for a massage once every couple of months, or you never really considered the option. There are spas in the city that can transform your entire day into a relaxation Mecca.
Find a spot that suits your needs – maybe it has not only massage therapy and facial treatments, but also other amenities and services like thermal pools, saunas and steam rooms, acupuncture, nails, and hair services for you to get lost in all day.
If you’re willing to pay a little extra to have a luxury experience, it’s NYgal’s go-to choice when we need a staycation.
Date Yourself
If a full-bodied spa experience is too much for your staycation needs, there are so other options. Instead, don’t be afraid to essentially date yourself.
Going out for dinner and a movie, or staying home, ordering takeout and the checking out the latest Netflix release is a great way to make the most out of your time at home.
We also live in a city with some of the greatest art and theatre in the world. So, take yourself over to the Theater District and see if you can score a last minute Broadway ticket.
Or lose hours wandering through the Metropolitan Museum, or the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. Giving yourself a special evening is the epitome of a staycation experience.
The Little Things
You don’t even need outside influences to transform your space into the staycation home of your dreams.
Putting clean sheets on your bed with a high thread count, taking a relaxing shower or bath, and even playing a calming soundtrack in the background will give you a new way to experience your home.
Better yet, give yourself permission to revel in a mid-afternoon nap, or dive into a book that you’ve had on your coffee table for months. These all hit the essential elements of a staycation of being able to relax and find comfort in ways you aren’t able to usually experience in your home space.
Staycations are beautiful ways to rest and relax without leaving your home. Even though it can be a nice experience to get out of the city and go somewhere else for your vacation, sometimes the best vacations you can take are the ones that don’t move you very far from your front door.
