Everyone is talking about the movement to free the nipple, but no one is talking about freeing the vagina. Sure, taking off a bra is probably the best part about getting home after a long day at work. Going braless also has many benefits, and you should definitely practice it; but did you know that going commando can benefit your health as well? Here’s why you should ditch your underwear.

It Can Prevent Infections

We have bad news ladies. Those lace thongs and hip huggers that you love so much, aren’t so good for your health. Thongs can put you at risk for infections. They make it easier for bacteria to travel from your anus to your vagina. If you’re active a lot throughout the day, the material in your thong shifts. So if you tend to catch infections easily, going commando could help you avoid major irritation.

No More Chafing

Your underwear hugs your lady parts. So if you’re wearing jeans or other rough materials, chafing is a possibility. This action can make you swell down there. No one wants that. When you remove those panties, you remove the friction that goes with underwear and pants. You no longer have to worry about powdering the pooch.

It Can Help You Stay Fresh

The vagina is a self-cleaning organ, so doctors recommend not cleaning it with soap. However, that doesn’t stop most of us from splashing a bit of shower gel down there to help it stay fresh. A smelly vagina is a huge turnoff. Wearing underwear can trap smells and moisture, making you feel not so fresh. Going commando eliminates this problem as it airs out your lady bits.

It Can Diminish Excess Discharge

If you aren’t wearing any material other than cotton, you’re not giving your vagina proper ventilation. Other materials suffocate your privates, and this leads to excess vaginal discharge. While discharge is normal, when it’s in excess, it’s not sexy or comfortable. Who wants to deal with wet panties all day? Well…Unless it’s during sexy time.

Your pH Balance Will Stay Within Range

You know those commercials with products that claim to regulate your pH balance? Well, you can actually do this on your own. Your panties can throw off your pH balance, making it easier to catch infections. Getting rid of your panties for a day or two a week, will help your vagina stay in a healthy range.

It Will Help Your Self Esteem

Thongs are great for having no panty lines, but they aren’t that comfortable. Going commando eliminates the need to worry about those awful lines ruining your dress. Yes, there are no-show panties, but how well do they really work? They can still show through sheer fabrics. Your self esteem will improve knowing that you look your best in every outfit without panty lines.

If you still need convincing to go commando, think about how much money you will save. Panties are getting more expensive each year as brands try to compete to stay relevant. Plus, I’m sure your boo would love the easier access.
