Who Is Cheryl Hines?
Cheryl Hines is a 55-year-old American actress and comedian who has been featured in sitcoms such as HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and ABC’s Suburgatory. She has been active in Hollywood for almost 30 years and was nominated for two Emmy Awards.
She first married Paul Young in 2002 and had a daughter with him in 2004. After eight years of marriage, they divorced.
She then began dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in 2011 after being introduced to him by her friend Larry King, eventually marrying him in 2014. Although Hines was still married to her first husband when she met Kennedy, she manages to maintain a great relationship with her ex. They share a daughter and are still actively part of each other’s lives.
Hines jokes that she actually has three husbands: Paul Young, Robot Kennedy, and Larry David. She played David’s fictional wife for so many years on Curb Your Enthusiasm and has developed such a close friendship with him that it sometimes feels like they are actually married. All three of them attended the ceremony for her star on Hollywood Boulevard in 2014.
Who is Robert Kennedy?
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a 66-year-old environmental lawyer and activist. Not only is he the son of Robert F. Kennedy, but he is also the nephew of former president John F. Kennedy. He has worked for many different nonprofits and organizations over the years. But he was also a senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), a board member and chief prosecutor for Hudson Riverkeeper, as well as an adjunct professor at Pace University School of Law.
He has written 10 books, two of which were New York Times bestsellers. Through his very impactful career, he has won hundreds of millions of dollars in lawsuits against corporations, preserving natural resources from being taken over and destroyed, and protecting minorities and poor communities from environmental pollution.
Kennedy first married Emily Black in 1982, separated in 1992, and divorced in 1994. They had two children together.
He then married Mary Kathleen Richardson in 1994 and had four children together. He filed for divorce in 2010, and she, unfortunately, committed suicide two years later around the anniversary of the divorce papers. There were many reports that he had cheated on her numerous times, even citing his own leaked secret diary.
Then in 2014, Robert married Cheryl Hines on the Kennedy compound in Massachusetts.
How They Met
The couple was introduced by Larry David on three separate occasions in one single year, all of which occasions occurring at ski resorts. They first met in Banff, Alberta; then Deer Valley, Utah; and finally in Aspen, Colorado. Hines was still married at the time, and Kennedy was separated from his second wife. Once Hines was divorced, they began their relationship, even though they both were hesitant to date each other since they lived in such different worlds of politics and acting.

The Wedding of Cheryl Hines and Robert Kennedy
Cheryl Hines and Robert Kennedy Jr. were married at the Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts. The compound is a six-acre waterfront property on Cape Cod with three houses on it; one of them was previously owned by his uncle, former President JFK. They were actually wed at that specific home.
The wedding had a three-hour delay, as it was pouring rain, so they had to move the reception from the tent outside into the house. Hines even walked down the aisle accompanied by her dog instead of any family member.
Notable people like Larry David, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Senator Ed Markey attended the event. Natasha Bedingfield attended and sang her famous song, “Unwritten”, for them. After the reception, the couple carried on the Kennedy family wedding tradition and went sailing.
Their Marriage
Cheryl Hines and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have now been married for six years. They celebrated their anniversary last August, in 2020, and each posted a loving message on their respective Instagram profiles.
Kennedy posted a series of pictures of them traveling together over the years, as well as one of them on their wedding day. In the post, he thanked her for “the unimaginable happiness” and “for the endless laughter” that she has brought to his life. He also praised her for her compassion, generosity, and overall faithful companionship.
Hines posted her own series of photographs on her Instagram, including an endearing selfie of the two near the beach. She expressed her appreciation for Kennedy for how well he understands her and how much she enjoys spending time with him. The couple has no children together, only from their previous marriages, and they prefer to stay out of the spotlight. They value their privacy and refrain from oversharing details of their lives.
So the answer to whether or not the couple is still married is a resounding: Yes! They have successfully maintained a happy marriage over the years. After decades of other relationships and families, these two individuals have found each other and are currently enjoying their life together.
They have now been happily married for nearly seven years, and show no signs of slowing down. We are eager to see what photos the couples post on their next anniversary date!

Why Cheryl Hines Was Happy to Return to ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ (Exclusive)
Hines told THR that she was “happy to come back” to Curb because she felt like she had unfinished business there. “I loved being part of the show,” she added. “I know the characters very well, I love those people.”
The actress went on to say that she wasn’t sure how the show would work without Larry David, but that she was willing to give it another shot. “He’s such a brilliant writer and he makes you laugh every single day,” she continued. “So I’m just excited to see where we go now.”
Hines added that she hasn’t been asked to do anything else since returning to Curb and that she enjoyed filming scenes with Larry David again. “We’re having fun together,” she said. “We’re still playing off each other.”
In addition to Hines, the rest of the cast — including Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman, Sarah Silverman, Ted Danson, Jason Alexander, JK Simmons, Mary Steenburgen, Michael Richards, and Kevin Nealon — are expected to return for season 11.
Cheryl Hines Condemns Husband RFK Jr.’s Comments About the Holocaust
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of former President John F. Kennedy and nephew of assassinated Sen. Ted Kennedy, called out the Trump administration over its handling of the COVID-19 outbreak during an appearance on Fox News Sunday. “I think it’s appalling,” he told host Chris Wallace. “There’s no question that there’s a coverup here.” He added that the virus could have been stopped earlier had the government acted sooner.
Kennedy went on to criticize the Trump administration for downplaying the threat posed by the novel coronavirus, calling the president’s response “a national disgrace.” He also accused Vice President Mike Pence of being complicit in the coverup. “He’s lied to the American people repeatedly,” Kennedy said. “The vice president doesn’t want to talk about the facts because he knows that the facts don’t support his position.”
Hines responded to her husband’s comments on Twitter. “My heart aches for you & millions of others whose lives have been turned upside down by this disease,” she wrote. “You’re wrong about @realDonaldTrump & @VP—they’ve done everything possible to protect us.” She later tweeted, “If I didn’t love my husband so much, I’d divorce him.”
In a statement posted to Facebook, Hines said, “As a mother, wife, daughter, sister, auntie, friend, and human being, I am deeply saddened and disappointed by my husband’s recent statements. They are abhorrent and offensive and run counter to our family values.”
She continued, “While I respect everyone’s freedom of speech, I cannot and will not allow such hurtful words to go unchallenged. My husband did not speak for me or our children. I hope those who heard his hateful words will understand how painful they must be to hear and how damaging they can be.”
Kennedy’s controversial comments come just days after he caused outrage by accusing the Trump administration of covering up the severity of the coronavirus outbreak. In a tweet, Kennedy claimed that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) failed to alert Americans early enough about the dangers of the virus. “This is a man who literally wants to kill Jews,” Kennedy said of Trump in reference to the president’s decision to pull funding for the World Health Organization (WHO). “And now he’s killing thousands of innocent African Americans and Latinos.”
Kennedy later apologized for his comment, saying, “I apologize for my choice of words. I meant to say ‘Jews’ not ‘the Jews.'”
