If you’re anything like me, then you’re a sucker for some good vintage fashion! However, it can be hard to find some great go-to stores! However, I’m here to tell you about the best vintage store Brooklyn has to offer! Plan a day to go grab some food and go thrifting!
When it comes to wearing vintage fashion, there are truly no limits! It is such a great way to showcase and show off your own personal style! Whether you’re interested in the style of a certain time period or you love anything old, thrifting has options for almost every sense of style!
Because almost every piece is unique when going vintage shopping, it’s a great way to find clothing that can set yourself apart from others! However, it can still be trendy (when it’s done right of course)!
It’s also very important to mention just how environmentally friendly vintage shopping is! When you’re buying secondhand, you’re ultimately limiting the amount of plastic that is going into landfills. As a result, there is less pollution and less waste! Saving the world by shopping? We’re in!
Where To Go Thrifting In Brooklyn
Whether you’re a tourist coming from out of town or new to the area, don’t sweat it. There are a ton of great vintage store Brooklyn has to offer! However, one of the best vintage store Brooklyn has is L-Train and Urban Jungle!
If you’ve never heard of L-Train before, then you’re in for a huge vintage treat! L-Train is a chain of thrift stores located across Brooklyn (with one location in the East Village)! Named for the iconic subway line, L-Train also has 2 locations named differently, which are No Relation Vintage (located in the East Village) and Urban Jungle (located in Williamsburg).
It’s important to keep in mind a few things when planning a thrifting day. First things first, make sure to prepare yourself for it to take at least 2-3 to properly go through each of the items in each of the aisles. Second, although you do not have to, you find some of the best stuff if you properly go through each item of clothing!
Because L-Train is connected to Urban Jungle, it’s connected to form one giant thrift superstore. As a result, there are so many items and articles of clothing to go through.
What To Look For
1) Jeans
If there’s anything that L-Train/Urban Jungle does right it’s their selection of jeans. Vintage jeans only of course (since were shopping at one of the best vintage store Brooklyn has)! If you’re looking for a large selection of different brands, then L-Train is the spot for you!
Levi’s, Lee, Calvin Klein and Wrangler. Those are just a few of the amazing vintage brand names that they have to offer! Not only is there a large selection of brands, but also an amazing range of washes.
I saved the best thing about it all. The jeans are one of the cheaper options at the entire store. Most are priced between $8-10 with some ranging from $15-20, depending on the brand or year! However, I still think $8-10 for a pair of good vintage jeans is a pretty great deal!
2) Graphic Tees
Another thing that I always leave L-Train with is at least one good graphic tee shirt! One of my favorite things to add to my wardrobe is a unique vintage and quirky graphic t-shirt. They have some of the coolest t-shirts that the vintage store Brooklyn has to offer!
One amazing thing that L-Train does is it does some of the work for you! As part of their decor, they put some of the coolest t-shirts out on display hanging from the ceiling. And all you have to do is ask for the price!
However, I find that I discover and get my hands on some of the best shirts at L-Train/Urban Jungle while digging through the racks. I’ve found plenty of Harley Davidson t-shirts and vintage band tees while doing the work myself!
3) Crewnecks
Similar to t-shirts, I love to add a good vintage crewneck to my wardrobe whenever I have the opportunity! And L-Train has some of the best sweatshirts, hoodies, and crewnecks that I’ve ever seen in a thrift store!
They carry some of the most amazing brands! From Calvin Klein to Tommy to Nike, there is bound to a vintage crewneck from L-Train that fits everyone’s style!
Pro tip: one of my favorite ways to style a crewneck is by paring a turtleneck underneath it! It allows you to live your best layered life and helps take that vintage look to the next level!
4) Dresses
One of the best ways that we can incorporate vintage fashion into our wardrobes is through dresses! One thing I like to remember is that fashion changes with the decades. As a result, there are so many different styles of vintage dresses!
Not only does L-Train have a wide variety of vintage dresses, but they have so much more! Check out their selection of jumpsuits and denim overalls while you’re there!
Now that you’re officially a vintage store Brooklyn expert, it’s time for you to try it out! Plan your own trip and make sure to hit up L-Train and Urban Jungle along the way! Happy thrifting!
