The Liar Liar cast was full of incredibly funny and talented actors. The movie was released on March 18th of 1997. This would make it 25 years old this year. Liar Liar was a legal comedy. The movie focuses on a shady lawyer who constantly lies to get ahead both in his career and his personal life. One day, his son makes a birthday wish that would force his father to tell only the truth for a full day.
This causes the lawyer to struggle with his job and relationships. However, he also learns how important the truth is along the way. In honor of the movie’s 25th anniversary let’s take a look at the Liar Liar cast and where they are now.
Liar Liar Cast Lead: Jim Carrey
The Liar Liar cast is full of star power and the main character is no exception. This pathologically lying and unethical lawyer is played by the famous comedian, Jim Carrey. Born in 1962, Jim Carrey is a popular Canadian-American comedian and actor. He had one child before his career took off. Liar Liar was the final piece of the puzzle for Jim Carrey’s rise to fame. His performance in this movie would ultimately earn him his second Golden Globe Award Nomination. Many think that his performance made what could have been an okay movie into a great one.
After the success of Liar Liar, Jim Carrey starred as the main character in The Truman Show. He quickly became a household name. Nowadays, Jim Carrey is viewed as an inspiration for many aspiring comedians. Most recently, he has played the main villain, Dr. Robotnik, in the Sonic The Hedgehog movie. He also published a book titled Memoirs and Misinformation. In April of this year, Jim Carrey announced that he would be retiring from acting for the time being. He did, however, leave a door open to return to the industry by saying that if he were presented with a wonderful script he would continue acting, just not right now.
Maura Tierney
The Liar Liar cast would not be the same without Maura Tierney. She played the character Audrey who was the main character’s former wife. Audrey was driven away by the main character’s pathological lying. After Liar Liar, Maura starred in movies such as Primary Colors, Insomnia, and Finding Amanda. She was also in several television shows such as Rescue Me, The Good Wife, American Rust, and Sammy.
She has been nominated for 14 awards for her acting in movies, TV shows, and theater productions and she has won three of them. Most recently, she won the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Lead Performance in Witch at the Geffen Playhouse.
Justin Cooper
Justin Cooper was such an important part of the Liar Liar cast. In fact, without his character, the plot would never have happened. Justin played Max, the son of the lying lawyer who wished his father were more truthful. Justin Cooper was born on November 17th in the year 1988. After Liar Liar, he continued being a child actor. He was in movies such as Dennis the Menace Strikes Again, The Adventures of Ragtime, and The Big House. Cooper also played Oscar Waide in the TV show, Brother’s Keeper.
In 2017, Justin Cooper became a producer for Fox Sports Radio. He focuses on overnight and early morning programs. Justin is also occasionally an on-air commentator for Fox Sports Radio.
Cary Elwes
Cary Elwes was one of the more established actors in the Liar Liar cast at the time of filming. This English actor was born in October of the year 1962. Before Liar Liar was even in production he was known for starring in The Princess Bride and Robin Hood: Men In Tights. In Liar Liar he was cast as Audrey’s new love interest, Jerry.
He has been in many movies and television shows since he was part of the Liar Liar cast. Some of his more memorable roles include Ella Enchanted and Psych. More recently, he was also the mayor in the popular Netflix show, Stranger Things.
Liar Liar Cast Gold Digger: Jennifer Tilly
One of the most memorable parts of the Liar Liar cast was Jennifer Tilly. She played Samantha Cole. Samantha was the main character’s client. Jennifer had been acting for years before Liar Liar and she is still acting to this day. She voiced Celia in Monsters Inc. Jennifer was also in several of the Chucky movies. She has also had an incredibly successful poker career in addition to acting. In 2014, she was nominated for PokerListing’s Spirit of Poker Living Legend Award.
The Liar Liar cast is full of wonderfully talented actors. They have all lived very successful lives since their appearances on this show. Perhaps the script that will get Jim Carrey out of his current retirement will be something that creates a reunion for the Liar Liar cast. Maybe even a sequel?
