How to introduce niacinamide to your skincare routine

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3, an essential nutrient to maintain the health of your skin. This powerful skincare ingredient is known to control oil, hydrate, brighten, and do so much more—the benefits of introducing niacinamide to your skincare routine are endless. Regardless of your skin type or concern, niacinamide will always leave your skin feeling and looking healthy. Although it’s gained a lot of popularity, it’s still an underdog compared to the likes of vitamin C and vitamin E since vitamin C has already been too prominent among the popularly preferred vitamins among any other vitamins, and vitamin E is widely used in the reduction of dark circles under the eyes. So today, you’re going to know why you should incorporate niacinamide into your skincare routine to improve your skin’s health.

The Benefits Of Niacinamide

Firstly, you must know the many benefits that niacinamide has. Whether you’ve got dry or oily skin, niacinamide makes sure that your glands don’t go crazy and produce more than they’re supposed to, as it has some of the best oil regulation properties. Niacinamide stimulates collagen production, so even if you apply a small amount of it, it is sufficient to remove the dark spots and lighten pigmentation on your skin. This amazing nutrient also helps reduce signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles as it provides protection against UV rays and pollution as well. Since niacinamide helps control oil production, your skin also appears smoother since the pores get closed. Another niacinamide benefit for the skin is that it soothes and heals inflammatory acne, and with continuous use, it clears the skin and brightens it as well. With so many benefits in one, I don’t think one should be neglecting including niacinamide into their skincare, now should they?

Do Not Forget

The question now is, How is one to include it in their skincare? Below are some points to keep in mind as you make niacinamide a part of your skincare routine. Check them out.

  1. Before applying the niacinamide serum to your face, make sure to wash your face using a gentle cleanser. Before using any serum or other product, it is very important to make sure that you have clean skin. Gently rub the cleanser all over your face, create enough lather, and then wash it all off with lukewarm water. Dab your wet face with a clean, soft towel and avoid scrubbing it.
  2. After you’re done wiping your face clean, take 2-3 drops of the niacinamide serum either on your hand or directly drop a few of them on your cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin area. Softly rub the serum on all these areas, making sure that you cover them properly. But beware not to use the serum anywhere near the area surrounding the eyes, as it could do some really bad damage since the skin surrounding this area is very thin. The serum is very light, so it will dry up very easily.
  3. Now, once you’ve applied the serum generously all over your face, all that’s left is to apply some moisturizer. Now, you don’t have to go out of your way for this step. Just the regular moisturizer that you use is enough. Just make sure that it isn’t any heavy cream. Take some moisturizer and apply it liberally. If you are applying the serum during the day, then also make sure that you use sunscreen along with your moisturizer. Having sunscreen as part of your skincare routine is also very important to make sure that you have healthy skin.
  4. If you begin using niacinamide serum day and night, you’ll presumably notice a difference in your skin within 2–3 weeks. If you have oily skin, then use niacinamide and zinc serum, because together these two ingredients create a soothing product that heals the skin by reducing pore size and making the skin even. One thing that you must avoid is using vitamin C with niacinamide and zinc. Although they will not cause an adverse reaction, vitamins C and E can counteract the consequences of niacinamide, making the product less effective. And avoid using this niacinamide and zinc combination if you feel any kind of irritation on your skin, because although it is not harmful, there is always the possibility of certain products not suiting the skin.

Niacinamide works by stabilizing the skin’s epidermal barrier to strengthen it. In keeping with a study conducted about the impact of niacinamide on the skin, this ability makes it a robust tool for protecting and repairing the skin’s appearance against environmental challenges. So from now on, try using some of it in your daily skincare routine, for the benefits that it has are way too many to be just left unnoticed and not provided to your skin for making it glow.
