We all live such busy lives. As a result, it can be hard to slow down our minds at the end of the day and getting ready for some shut-eye. In fact, there are easy tricks that you can do to stop insomnia right in its tracks. Here are some helpful tips to get the rest you need- because we all know that getting those solid eight hours a night will help you in so many ways.

Just Get Up

There’s nothing worse than forcing yourself to stay in bed while your mind is racing. In fact, if you wake up and can’t seem to fall back asleep, try to get yourself out of bed for about 10 minutes. Do an activity like a puzzle or jigsaw puzzle. It sounds crazy but this activity will help your brain tire out and help you get some rest.

You do want to make sure to avoid screens. We all know that the blue-light from your phone and TV can hinder your sleep.

Stay Away From All Clocks

While it’s easy to lose track of time when you are constantly tossing and turning, but checking the time spent not sleeping isn’t going to help you catch any zzz’s. Just do yourself a favor and hide those clocks. It just so happens that if you stare at that clock, you increase your stress by worrying about the fact that you can’t fall asleep.

Keep The Temperature Cool

Your internal body temperature is a critical component of helping you sleep. In fact, when you keep your room cool, you are more likely to fall asleep faster and have a good night’s rest. The recommended bedroom temperature is anywhere between 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal sleep conditions. Ideally, you want to keep your bedroom cool, dark, and incredibly comfortable.

Try Taking A Nice Warm Shower Before Bed

By warming your body before bed and then stepping into some cooler air is a great way to let your body know that it’s time for bed. In fact, if you shower every night around the same time, you can create a wonderful routine that your body will start to appreciate. As a result, you will see some shut-eye more frequently.

Give Socks A Try

It sounds crazy but it works. Wearing socks to bed is a great way to get to sleep faster. As someone who often struggles to fall asleep, I am known to go to bed with a pair of knee-high socks on the regular. They keep me warm and before I know it, I’m out like a light.

Spray Some Lavender

Lavender is a flower known for its relaxing and calming effect. In fact, spraying lavender oil or putting some delicious-smelling lavender oil on your wrists is a great way to relax your body and get yourself primed for sleep.

Meditate Before Bed

One of the greatest things you can do is meditate before bed. In fact, a nighttime routine that incorporates some sort of meditation or relaxation practice is a surefire way to get some shut-eye. Just like meditation in the morning helps release tension and anxiety for your day ahead, it does the same thing for your body before you go to bed. Doing a five-minute meditation before bed will allow your body to relax and help you fall asleep quicker.

Trying to fall asleep is something that many people struggle with. In fact, missing out on quality sleep can lead to anxiety, bad moods, and negative health consequences. Creating a routine that helps you fall asleep will benefit you in so many ways- give it a try and see what happens.
