Once upon a time, in the remotest corner of the town, lived a poor girl Aisha. It was just before Christmas, and the little girl couldn’t wait any longer for the tiny bread loaf, cake slice, and presents!
That day, as she finished cleaning the chimney, she kept wondering about the fancy Christmas decorations in the street shops. Covered in soot and dust, little Aisha soon fell asleep on the couch, even before cleaning up.
In her dreams, Aisha found herself seated exactly in the same position. There were glittery and shinny Christmas decors all around the room. Aisha jumped off her couch to take a look at the tree-topper, but it was too high for her. Ah! Those neon lights, garlands, music, and the rich aroma of the cheesecakes! Aisha’s heart was full of gratitude. She danced around in joy and finally saw her mother and grandmother seated at a table.
“Where is my present, Mommy?” burst out the little girl in excitement. Her mother said, ”Aisha, you have enough! Don’t be a greedy gal! Always remember, everything will come to you at the right moment!”
Her grandmother laughed out loud and said, ”Dear Aisha, close your eyes and tell us what you want for Christmas?”
”Wingardiam Laviossa! I want a Mother Mary!” cried out the little girl, sitting still with her eyes closed.
”Are you sure you don’t want a baby Jesus?” confirmed her mother.
”Mother Mary is all I want!” said Aisha boldly.
Her grandmother said, ”Open your eyes now!”
Viola! There lay the prettiest and kindest Mother Mary doll, even better than the one she saw in the old antique shop. Aisha started sobbing in happiness. Her grandmother said, ” Why are you crying, my baby? No more tears, alright? You are a brave princess, aren’t you?”
Aisha wiped off her tears and hugged her grandmother tightly.
Her grandmother said, ”Now that you have your Mother Mary, you’ve to strive hard every day to be a true reflection of her. Aisha, always remember that this is no ordinary doll! If you do what I tell you, Mother Mary will come alive and guide you during the dark, chilly winter nights when it’s snowing outside.”
The following morning Aisha opened her eyes and found the Mother Mary doll lying in her arms. Her father asked, ” Do you want breakfast, honey?”
”Yes, daddy! Let me help you out,” said Aisha and jumped off the couch.
Three days before Christmas, Mother Mary found a new home!
