Being kinder to yourself can be incredibly difficult. In our social media obsessed society, we often find that it’s easier to compare our worst parts to another person’s best parts. In fact, when it comes to fitness goals or simply maintaining a healthy lifestyle, it is important to make sure that you are actually being kind to yourself if you want to stick to your goals and stay happy. Here are some easy ways you can be kinder to yourself and learn to love your body- no matter what it looks like.
Never Compare Yourself To Others
One of the worst things that you can do as you explore a new fitness routine or looking to make healthier choices in your life is to compare those choices to others. In fact, it can be counterproductive to compare yourself to those around you. There’s a beautiful quote that I read once “comparison is the thief of joy”. And those words are so true. Remember that you are you. And that is unique and special and should always be celebrated, faults and all. As someone who feels like they have more faults than others, I totally understand how easy it can be to think that you are not good enough, but the more you can embrace your quirks you’ll be on your way to being kinder to yourself.

Learn From Those Who Hurt You
Criticism is something everyone has dealt with at one point or another. In fact, we are often our own worst critics. Instead of letting criticism get us down, choose to let that feeling inspire you to be your best self. Doing something that seems impossible is actually what makes you mentally and physically stronger.
Don’t Underestimate Your Ability
The only thing that is worse than being mean to yourself is limiting your spark. In fact, we all have something to share with the world. It is in the moment that we allow ourselves to not let others dull or shine that we are finally able to show the world what we are made up of. Not being afraid to shine brightly is what will make you so much happier and more confident. It’s this inner confidence that will bring so much into your life- things that you couldn’t have even expected.

Surround Yourself With People Who Want You To Be The Best Version Of Yourself
Friends, partners, parents, we all have at least one person in our lives who know who we truly are. But, there will still be certain things we hide from the world. It is once we begin to let go of our insecurities that we can finally begin to step out into the light and be the absolute best version of ourselves. From my mom to my boyfriend, I surround myself with people who look out for my best interests and what me to succeed in whatever I choose to do or pursue. Once you are able to find your tribe of people who can lift you up when you need it most, you’ll no longer have to be so mean to yourself. Or at least you can start to let go of that negative voice that is constantly telling you (falsely) that you aren’t good enough.
At the end of the day, it can be a challenge to be kind to ourselves. But it takes a strong person to let go of the negative thoughts and instead focus on the support and love of those around her. Letting go of those negative feelings is hard- which is why having a support team around you can really be a great way to tackle the feelings of not being good enough and instead learn how to be kind to yourself.
