The countdown begins once you’re 29 weeks pregnant. Your baby is slowly gaining weight at a steady pace. The added muscles and fat bring your baby’s body in shape, and the little bones of your baby are getting strengthened! Slowly, their skin is smoothening out, and it is becoming less wrinkled.

All of these activities inside your womb could drain out the calcium and iron resources in your body. Therefore, you could increase your calcium and iron intake for the coming weeks. Here are some useful tips that might come in handy when you are 29 weeks pregnant.

What to Expect When You Are 29 Weeks Pregnant?

As you’ve entered the third trimester, precisely seven months one week, your body has started preparing for the due date, which is about to happen in 11 weeks. Here are the five critical changes you can expect when you are 29 weeks pregnant.

Baby’s Physical Development

In this week, your baby has grown 26.4 cm or 10.5 inches from its crown to the bottom of the buttock. This measurement is also called the crown-rump length. Your child’s total height is now about 37.5 cm or 14.75 inches, and it weighs about 3 pounds or 1.35 kg.

The skin of your child is slowly getting thicker and maturing. If you could see it happen, you would notice the addition of muscles and fat that shape your child’s body. The fine hair that covers your baby’s body will slowly start falling off. 

Bone Development

In the second trimester, the growth of your baby’s bone starts taking place. As you reach the third trimester, the intake of calcium in the baby’s body increases. Of course, this requirement is fulfilled from the available calcium in your body. By nourishing their bones with calcium, your body is allowing your child’s body to get stronger with passing days. 

Fatigue and Lack of Energy

The exertion of the first trimester was unbearable already. It would become painful to see its return to the third trimester, but it is bound to happen. The little wave of energy experienced in the second trimester would leave your body as the pesky symptoms of early pregnancy find their way back to your body. Fatigue is one of them.

Heartburn

Usually, heartburn occurs when the stomach acids that are used for digestion are pushed out of your stomach in an upward direction towards your throat. As your baby and the womb both grow, it is normal for your child to push its body into your stomach. This movement could increase the problem of heartburn.

During this time, avoid spicy and fatty food, increasing your discomfort marginally. Eat as little as possible and frequently to reduce the pressure on your stomach when you are 29 weeks pregnant. 

You can try drinking milk or other similar drinks, and if that doesn’t help, ask your doctor to prescribe a suitable medicine for it.

Are you noticing bumpy and swollen veins in your leg when you are 29 weeks pregnant? This means you are suffering from the problem of varicose veins. Even when there is nothing to worry about it, you can wear tights that support your legs well or place your feet up whenever possible. However, if your lumps are painful, talk to your doctor about it.

Another visible change would be in the appearance of your belly button. It might have started sticking out by now. After your child is born, it will start going in with time. So there is nothing to worry about it. Similarly, your stretch marks will also disappear after childbirth.

Tips for 29th Week of Pregnancy

  • Fix your sleep routine and stay consistent with it.
  • Take a nap during the day whenever possible. 
  • Exercise for some minutes during the day.
  • Eat healthy meals that are rich in iron.
  • Avoid drinking or consuming caffeine in any form.
  • Seek help from family or friends with daily responsibilities.
  • Target eating at least three servings of food every day that is rich in calcium.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.

As your body starts to slow down like the first trimester again in your 29th week of pregnancy, take some time out to relax and allow your baby to grow in a healthy environment. Pay extra attention to self-care and balance your daily responsibilities efficiently!
