If there’s one trend that has truly evolved, it’s sneakers. Not only have their overall designs changed drastically but also the way we style sneakers. There are so many different ways to mix and match your outfit while rocking a pair of sneaks!
How Exactly Do I Style Sneakers?
When it comes down to it, there really is a way to make sneakers work with any sense of style! Because of the vast majority of different designs and uses for sneakers, it has become easier and easier to wear them and still look cool. Here are a few tips on how to style sneakers yourself.
Style Sneakers With Mom Jeans
One huge trend that has become popular in the fashion world are mom jeans. It’s no secret that vintage fashion and style has come back and it’s better than ever. Mom jeans are a great way to look cute while still being super comfy.
They’re also amazing to pair with your favorite pair of sneakers. Rock a true vintage out with some good old Chuck Taylors or be super trendy by pairing some vintage Levi’s with some cool dad sneaks! Try out this method for sneaker styling for ultimate chic comfort.
Cuff Your Jeans
Another great way to style sneakers is by cuffing your jeans. After all, you want to showcase the sneakers as one of the main accessories of your outfit. Cuffing your jeans allows you to look a little more put together, while still experiencing the casual comfort of your favorite pair of jeans.
Pair a plain tee with some boyfriend jeans and your favorite stylish sneakers and you’re good to go! The best part about this combination? It can be worn with almost any style of a sneaker! Whether you’re into platforms or slip-ons, you need to try this look out for yourself.
Pair Them With A Maxi or Midi Dress
Another huge trend this past year is the reintroduction of midi and maxi dresses to the fashion world. They’ve been showing up in so many retail stores in such a variety of patterns and colors that are super trendy. It’s also a great piece to pair with your favorite pair of sneakers!
Going out for brunch or for a night out on the town? Pairing your look with a dress can be worn to a variety of different occasions! Looking for an extra twist? Add in your favorite pair of cool socks to add your own style to this sneaker styling combo!
Pair With A High Waisted Trouser Or Culotte Pants
This next one is one of my favorite new ways to style sneakers. As crazy as it sounds, next time you’re not sure how to style your sneakers, try this. Wear them with a work pant or high waisted trousers or culottes. The juxtaposition in the two makes for such a trendy and chic look!
Look like a model-off-duty when you wear your sneakers this way. Pair the trousers with your favorite crop top and some hoop earrings and you’re ready to go! Pro-tip, you can’t go wrong with going with a classic pair of black trousers!
Style Sneakers With A Pantsuit
Similar to the last method, this one also uses the combo of “menswear” when sneaker styling. One of my new favorite trends is wearing a matching pantsuit with a great pair of chunky sneakers. It’s a great way to feel trendy and it’s also a super easy outfit to put together – it’s already done for you!
Not sure where to find a trendy pantsuit? One of my favorite places is actually the thrift store! You are able to find vintage pantsuits that are not only stylish but unique as well! The sneakers/pantsuit combo is a great way to rock a cute pair of sneakers!
Pair With A Patterned Maxi Skirt
Similar to the concept of pairing with a maxi dress, another great way is to pair your sneakers with a cute patterned midi or mini skirt. In particular, animal print skirts are all of the rage right now!
Pair a cute patterned skirt with a patterned cropped tee or tank and your favorite sneaks for easy style! It looks like you’ve really put thought into it, when in fact, the patterns and the accessories do the work itself! It’s the perfect tip for sneaker styling!
Athleisure
If you’re not familiar with what exactly athleisure is, allow me to explain. It’s the idea of wearing hybrid clothing not only to work out but also to wear to other occasions! This can include casual social engagements and other activities.
Because this is essentially an excuse to wear leggings out of the house, why wouldn’t you try it? Pair it with your favorite athletic trainers or even casual tennis shoes. It’s the height of comfort, while still looking cute for sneaker styling!
