Let’s face it: our skin really takes a beating. From makeup and creams to dirt and grime, it’s a wonder that it isn’t in worse condition. Take a few minutes this weekend to treat yourself to some much-needed TLC with one of these homemade beauty masks!

Banana Yogurt Mask

Have some extra bananas laying around? Not only are they good for your insides, they’re also the perfect ingredient for this ultra-moisturizing, acne-fighting mask!

Mash up a medium-sized ripe banana into a smooth paste. Mix in 1/4 cup of plain yogurt and 2 tablespoons of honey. Gently apply it to your face and neck. Let it set for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse off with cold water.

Apple Cider Vinegar

So although it’s not exactly a mask, this solution packs a punch to thoroughly cleanse and tighten your skin. Mixing 1/4 cup cider vinegar with 1/4 cup water, apply the “mask” to face for a few seconds and rinse off.

Oatmeal Facial

Combine 1/2 cup hot, not boiling, water and 1/3 cup oatmeal. After the water and oatmeal have settled for two or three minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, 2 tablespoons honey, and 1 small egg white. Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes.

To cleanse your skin and tighten pores, put some plain yogurt on your face and let it sit for about 20 minutes. To take this mask to the next level, mix 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt with the juice from 1/4 slice of orange. Add some of the orange pulp and 1 teaspoon of aloe and apply the mixture to your face. Leave it on for at least five minutes before rinsing.

Egg Mask

As one of the most versatile masks, you can tailor it to your unique skin type. All you need is an egg! If you have dry skin that needs moisturizing, separate the egg and beat the yolk.

Oily skin takes an egg white, to which a bit of lemon or honey can be added. For normal skin, use the entire egg. Apply the beaten egg parts and wait for 30 minutes, then rinse. You’ll love how a simple egg can make your skin feel happy and healthy.

Chocolate Avocado Mask

First of all, this mask is yummy. Yes, you read that right . . . you can actually eat it! Mash one-quarter of an avocado in a bowl. Stir in one tablespoon of cocoa powder and one tablespoon of honey. Make sure you mix it well so the mask develops a smooth texture. Apply the mask for ten minutes to clean skin and then wash off with warm water and moisturize.

Acovado is quite hydrating, the cocoa has antioxidants and the honey is an anti-inflammatory. 3 in 1!

Papaya Mask

Calling all NYgals with hyperpigmentation or uneven skin tones! We have the perfect mask for you. Simply blend together two tablespoons of honey and a half-cup of mashed papaya. Gently apply the mixture onto your face for 15-20 minutes then wash it off and moisturize. Your skin will love you!

Brown Sugar Scrub

In this recipe, brown sugar acts as an exfoliant and the coconut oil as a moisturizer! It doesn’t get more simple than this, folks! Just mix two tablespoons of brown sugar with two tablespoons of coconut oil and you have yourself a winner.
