After Ever Happy is the fourth installment in the After series and it is directed by Castille Landon. While the film has made some creative changes, it is still faithful to the original storyline. The story revolves around Hardin’s relationship with Tessa. Hardin’s parents have kept his biological father hidden from him, but he is angry with them for not telling him the truth. This causes Hardin to withdraw into a state of numbness.
Hardin’s father
Hardin is back in London and stirring up trouble. He’s reconnected with some of his old hoodlum friends and has gotten back into his old ways. When Hardin learns that his wife’s deadbeat father is still alive, he is devastated. He turns to his old friend Zed for help. But Zed has had his eye on Tessa since the beginning of time, and he takes advantage of Hardin’s situation to get his daughter back.
Hardin’s father was a drug addict, and Hardin’s addiction had made him dependent on drugs. However, he wanted to reconnect with his daughter, and the two of them began a long distance relationship. But Tessa’s dad had a secret. He was a recovering addict, and his behavior had caused a lot of pain for his wife and daughter.
Despite its promising start, the movie is flawed and poorly plotted. The movie uses a meta scenario to poke fun at itself. The film explicitly states that the story is about overcoming a messed-up past and redemption through love. It isn’t perfect, but it’s an interesting concept.
The story takes a turn in the final scenes. Hardin’s real father is not his old friend Ken, but Christian Vance, who was his best friend in college. The two have a relationship that starts out sour but turns nasty when Hardin discovers that his mother is seeing Christian Vance on the day she was supposed to marry another man.
