Trends are taking over the world at an alarming pace. With every new day, another trend pops up, hogging the spotlight, and making people go crazy. While some of them are actually worth the excitement, others are fleeting and often disappointing. And of course, we have a long list of trends that have gone terribly wrong. As we all know, in order to win the spotlight, a trend must stand apart from the rest. There’s no better way to stand apart rather than being caught in a haze of controversy. Nothing as juicy and trending as a controversial trend right? 2023 has also witnessed its share of controversial trends. And we are here to give you a detailed review of all those trends. Before we delve deeper, we just have one word of advice for you; try these at your own risk.

1. Skin Streaming

Skin streaming has come into the market as one of the most controversial beauty trends, and one thing is for sure: it is here to stay for a very long time. What does skin streaming mean? It is the process of eliminating skin care products that are necessary or, along with other skincare products, can cause reactions to your skin. For skin streaming, one should be completely aware of what ingredients a product contains and how each of them reacts to their skin. The list can include products like exfoliators, which might harm the skin if used in excess. Hence, exfoliating once a week would help. Apart from this, there are products like toner and undereye cream, which have mixed comments and reviews from people about whether they work or not. All these products could be immediately eliminated from your list of skin care products. Skin streaming is one of the most controversial beauty trends of 2023, and we cannot wait to see where it goes.

2. Roll On Deodorants as Primers

Roll-on deodorants gained a lot of popularity due to their dry nature, which helps prevent sweating and is great for armpits and areas around the neck and ears. Reviews praise roll-on deodorants for their light and gentle nature, unlike other deodorants, which can be harsh on the skin. This became one of the most controversial beauty trends when people began using this roll-on deodorant as a makeup primer. Because of its qualities like preventing sweating, not letting the skin dry out, and acting as a good base, it became a primer! Some said that this can have serious repercussions, while others said that it is just a DIY hack and will not harm the skin. Everyone can have a different perspective on this, but one thing is for sure: it is harmful to the skin, and the results may not be immediate, but you will see them in the long run.

3. Haemorrhoid Creams for Undereye Bags and Dark Circles

Hemorrhoid creams are used to cure some issues like itching, inflammation, or swelling in some parts of the body. A very minimal amount is used, as haemorrhoid creams can act fatally when used at the wrong spots or in the wrong amounts. Some people started using the haemorrhoid cream because of its anti-inflammatory nature to reduce dark circles and puffy eyes. This is definitely one of the most risky and controversial beauty trends of all time. Eyes are very sensitive, and the result of using haemorrhoid creams there can be disastrous. Hence, if at all you want to go for it, contact your dermatologist beforehand.

4. DIY Chemical Peels

Sounds interesting? We bet your skin would beg to differ. With the power of the internet and everything available at your fingertips, it is not difficult to make something at home, even if it is some skincare products. Chemical peels are one of them. It is very convenient, in fact, to purchase ingredients from the market that will form a chemical peel together. What we do know is that chemical peels are good for your skin, and that too, to an extent. It has a lot of chemicals, which may or may not suit your skin. Making a chemical peel at home can be risky because the ingredients are not processed. No matter how much you try, the ingredients will not be as evenly and finely processed as an industry standard. Hence, these can be bad for your skin, causing reactions. It is one of the controversial beauty trends that should go away soon.

5. Buccal Fat Removal

Coming to one of the most controversial beauty trends! Buccal fat removal! This is the area below your cheek. Fat in your buccal area makes your cheeks chubby. Some people got annoyed by this and decided to get their buccal fat removed through surgery. These surgeries can be painful, so why do them? It can be difficult for sure, but one should always try to fall in love with their body no matter what and stay away from all body shape and size-changing surgeries. This surgery can be financially heavy on your pocket as well, so it is best to just stay away from it.
