Makeup remover—we have all heard about makeup removers. It looks like water but works much more efficiently. It is underrated, and using it will help you remove mascara and eyeliner. We are in the habit of using waterproof and smudge-free mascara, so just using water will not be enough. If you are rough with the water, it will smudge even more. For using makeup remover to remove your eye makeup, take a few drops on either a cotton ball or a cotton pad and clean your eyes with soft strokes. Makeup removers are of two types: oil-based and water-based. If you have dry skin, you should go for an oil-based makeup remover, and if you have oily skin, go for the alternative. This will not only help you get rid of makeup but also improve your skin!
Soft creams: Soft creams have less viscosity than normal creams. They aren’t as heavy and work great on removing eye makeup. As they are very light, they are not rough on the skin around the eye, which is very sensitive. The best part is that soft creams work effectively on waterproof mascara too. If you use soft cream, either use it with cotton pads or apply it to your eyes, leave it for 5 minutes, and then wipe it off.
Oils: Oils are one of the most convenient and easy ways to remove eye makeup. The best oil for this purpose is coconut oil. It will not only help you with the need but also rejuvenate you because of its moisturizing properties. For using oils, you need to follow a similar procedure as for soft creams. Put a few drops of oil on a cotton pad and wipe your eyes. Apart from this, you can also apply the oil directly to the eyes and leave it there for a few minutes. After this, wipe it using a tissue or cotton pad. The tissues or cotton pads you use for the same should be soft and not rough on the eyes.
Baby shampoos: Baby shampoos are extremely gentle, as they are manufactured with the sensitive skin and organs of babies in mind. Hence, if you need any form of foam or soap to clean the makeup, baby shampoos come in handy. If, by any chance, they enter your eye, they will not do any kind of damage to your eyes. When using baby shampoos, foam them using water, apply the foam over your makeup, and exfoliate using cotton or your fingers very gently.
Petroleum jelly: Petroleum jelly lubricates the eye makeup, making it extremely easy to come off. It also moisturizes your eyes and helps refresh them after removing the makeup. To use petroleum jelly, simply put some on a cotton pad and gently wipe your eyes. Do not exfoliate very hard.
Things To Keep In Mind
- Be patient and give enough time for any makeup-removing product to set in. If you are using soft creams, petroleum jelly, or oils, you need to be patient if it does not remove the eye makeup in one go. Leaving them on for a few minutes will do the job, and slowly the makeup on your eyes will not be stubborn. Hence, being patient is very important.
- Do not exfoliate roughly. As mentioned before, the eyes are very sensitive, and exfoliating them roughly can cause redness and irritation. Excessive exfoliating may also lead to early aging. Also, your eyelash hair might break. Hence, being gentle while removing makeup is key!
- Check the product before use. Do not use any makeup remover. Go through the ingredient list and see which ones are actually good for your skin. Because makeup removers are meant to be a little tougher to clean off the product, they can be harsh, so do your research before selecting a particular product.
- Cleaning is very important. After you have cleaned your makeup, it is important to give your face and eyes a refreshing treatment. Hence, use a cleanser or face wash to clean your entire face.
