Meghan Markle is the daughter of Daria Ragland and Thomas Markle. Her father, Thomas Markle, worked as a lighting director for a news channel and won an Emmy for it. She has witnessed the sets and filming since she was a child. She has two half-siblings from her father’s first marriage. She was only six years old when her parents got divorced. She was on good terms with both of them until after their marriage.

Childhood in Acting

When Meghan was just a kid, she would go to the sets of “married…with children” immediately after school. She described in an interview how different and funny it was for her. This was not something her batchmates or friends would do, and she has been on sets since childhood. We now understand why she was such a talented actress!

Always Voicing Her Opinions

Meghan Markle realized how powerful her voice was when she was younger. The feminist in her was first seen when she wrote a letter to the first lady, Hillary Clinton. The letter showed her disappointment towards the tagline of a dishwashing soap brand, which read “women all over America” in the context of washing dishes. It was actually taken into consideration, and the brand changed from “women in America” to “people in America.”

First Appearance

Meghan Markle made her first appearance as an actress in the 2002 TV drama General Hospital. Following this, she acted in many shows and movies, including Without a Trace, CSI, When Sparks Fly, Castle, Get Him to Greek, Remember Me, The Dater’s Handbook, and Horrible Bosses. Apart from these roles, Meghan was very popular for her role as Rachel or Mrs. Ross in the Netflix web series “Suits.”

Quitting Acting?

Meghan Markle was in the lead role as Rachel Zane in the Netflix web series Suits for seven years before she quit the show. She has been a part of the show since 2011 when it was released. She decided to call it quits after her engagement to the one and only Prince Harry. She told the press that she wanted to focus on humanitarian work and her work as a royal duchess. Of course, the shippers of Mike and Rachel were devastated, but what Markle did after her resignation on topics such as women’s empowerment more than made up for it.

The Royal Marriage

The couple has revealed that they met over Instagram through a mutual friend of the two who had posted a picture with Markle. Prince Harry initiated the conversation, after which they went out on dates. Meghan Markle told the media in September 2017 that they were two people in love. Not long after this, in November 2017, their engagement was announced. In May 2018, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. The wedding caught the attention of thousands and was in the headlines of all articles and news.

The Royal Drama

A lot of drama has unfolded in the royal family since the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Rumors circulated that Meghan did not get along with Queen Elizabeth or her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton. Everything was clarified when the prince and the duchess of Sussex decided to step down from the title of working royals. They later went on to become financially dependent and start their lives over. At the beginning of their relationship, it was believed that the royal family was not completely supportive of it, one of the reasons being that Meghan Markle had been married once before, to Trevor Engelson, in 2011. They got divorced in 2013.

Meghan Markle’s Children

One year after their marriage, Meghan gave birth to their first child, Archie Harrison, in 2019. This was a huge affair for the media, but the couple refrained from making it very public and kept it as private as possible. After they had stepped down as working royals in 2020, they had their second child, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Windsor, in the year 2021. In between the two of them, Meghan was pregnant but unfortunately had a miscarriage, which according to the couple was because of the stress and lack of sleep caused by “the mail.” The newspaper had released a letter that Meghan wrote to her father.

Meghan’s Social Work

Meghan Markle has always been on the front foot when it comes to volunteering and working for social causes. She has worked for non-profit organizations such as the United Nations Women’s Political Participation and Leadership Programme and One Young World. She has also adopted two rescue dogs. Apart from this, she wrote an op-ed after her visit to India. Meghan has visited many refugee camps and met with women all around the world who are working for social causes.

The Netflix Documentary

Recently, Netflix released a documentary on the lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. It includes both of them, their close friends, and Meghan’s mother talking about their lives. Harry opened up about his childhood and expressed his love for his mother, Princess Diana. The documentary also highlighted what went downhill between the couple and the royal family. Meghan also opened up about her relationship with her father and how she was disheartened that he talked to the media about their personal stuff. Aside from that, it was revealed that Meghan was denied the opportunity to invite her niece to her wedding and that she sought professional help for her mental health but was denied. It was also revealed by Tyler Perry, an American filmmaker, that he was the godfather of the couple’s daughter, Lilibet. Many such facts came to be known by the public, and they summed up the ups and downs of their lives.
