Snoop Dogg is an incredibly famous rapper. Some of his most popular songs include “Tha Shiznit” and “Drop It Like It’s Hot” among others. People know a lot about him from his real name, Calvin Broadus, to his love of weed. However, something people might not know about is the fact that Snoop Dogg has three kids with his wife and a son with another woman he knew in high school. His son’s name is Julian Broadus. Just like his father, Julian has led a very interesting life.
The Early Life of Julian Broadus
Julian Broadus was born in June of 1998. He was raised in California. His father is the rapper, Snoop Dogg (Calvin Broadus), and his mother is Laurie Holmond. He has three half-siblings, two brothers and one sister. Snoop Dogg did not believe that Julian was his son until a paternity test was done. There was a strain on Julian’s relationship with his father. This led him to miss having an active paternal figure in his life. Julian was, however, very close to his mother and paternal grandmother.
As a child, Julian Broadus loved to play sports, especially basketball. Julian went to Diamond Bar High School where he played basketball until he broke his hand. Julian claims that he began smoking weed when he was a freshman in high school. Similar to his father, he has a strong passion for marijuana and considers himself a stoner. He graduated high school when he was seventeen years old. Julian later went to the University of California, Los Angeles for college. He began as a biology major but switched to business.
Julian’s Relationship With Snoop Dogg
Snoop Dogg has had his fair share of controversies, including women claiming he had an affair with them. However, in Julian’s mother’s case, this was actually true. Julian’s mother and father had a brief relationship in high school. They continued to have a physical relationship after Snoop Dogg was married. Snoop Dogg was married to his wife for a year before Julian was born.
Julian and his mother, Laurie, both claim that Snoop Dogg was fairly absent from Julian’s life. Laurie and Julian both agree that Snoop Dogg took responsibility as a father. Julian’s father Snoop Dogg would always help out financially, but rarely be there emotionally for his son. At first, Julian partially resented the fact that his father was a famous rapper because he wished that he could have a closer relationship. Julian did not really get to know his father until he was around 9 years old.
In 2009, Julian appeared in Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot” music video. His half-brothers were also in this video (though his half-sister was not). In recent years Julian has said that even though he and his father do not always see eye to eye, he still loves his dad. He says that he admires his dad’s work ethic and wants to emulate that.
Julian’s Relationship With His Mother
Julian Broadus’ mother doesn’t speak in public very often, but Julian talks about her. Julian is very vocal about how much he appreciates his mother. He thanks her very often for supporting him and protecting him from negative people. Many people tried to bully him saying he was not Snoop Dogg’s son. However, his mother taught him how to push past the negativity these people tried to push onto him. He proudly thanks her all over his Instagram claiming that she is greater than everything else. He often credits her for making him a better man all throughout his entire life.
Julian Broadus’ Career
In his younger years, Julian wanted to play basketball. He loved the idea of having a career in sports. He was very passionate about this until he suffered a hand injury and had to give up this dream.
Julian then considered going into music. He released a few songs before taking them down later. He wanted to get better at it before committing to a release. While his father is a rapper, Julian’s music taste is a little different. He prefers making R&B music or pop music.
He has has a few odd jobs including modeling. Julian was a part-owner of a weed delivery service. He has also worked as an ambassador for Voxel X Network. This is an NFT marketplace that “connects you to the metaverse” among other things.
Julian Broadus and his father Calvin Broadus (A.K.A. Snoop Dogg) have not always had the best possible relationship with one another. However, Julian seems to be a very successful go-getter who respects and understands the difficult nature of his parent’s relationship. Even though he seems closer to his mom, it does seem like he is very grateful to his dad for the relationship that they do have.
