The #bossbabe movement has made more women than ever feel empowered and capable in their lives. It demonstrates women’s incredible diversity, power, and potential in every sector imaginable. From corporate CEOs to small business owners, there is no wrong way to do you. What we love to see most is women owning their lives and taking full control of their futures. How does that look for you? Right now, working a 9-to-5 may not feel like your ideal vision for your career. Some women thrive in the office setting, but others yearn for something more flexible. Whatever you see for yourself, here’s what you have to do to begin living like the boss babe you truly are.

Get Comfortable Asking for More

For so many women, the struggle between assertiveness and bossiness is a fine line. In the workplace, many of us fear speaking up too loudly for fear of being told we’re out of place. And nothing is worse for a woman than being unseemly, right? Forget that noise. Boss babes are open about what they want, regardless of what anyone else thinks they deserve. They take life by the reins and steer their path full-throttle. You are able to achieve incredible things so long as you are comfortable asking for them. It’s not asking for permission, mind you. This is all about voicing your needs, letting others know what your game plans are and confidently moving toward them.

Go After What You Want

Want to earn your college degree or advance your education? There are many ways to do just that without being held back by a lack of money or time. Online colleges give you a flexible schedule that works in your life. With Earnest private student loans, it is a way to fund your college tuition with flexibility and choice. There are always ways to do whatever you dream about. Be willing to get creative and test the waters. We often make our greatest discoveries through trial and error. Going back to school to earn your master’s or even undergraduate can drastically increase your earning potential. The goal is to open as many doors as you can for yourself so you truly are spoiled for choice.

Stop Saying Yes When You Want to Say No

You are not obligated to be your friends’ free therapist, your coworkers’ assistant, or anyone else’s go-to all the time. Accepting that it’s ok to say no when you’re mentally exhausted can be a challenge but it’s worth the work. While it may be nice to help others, there has to be a limit. Learn to turn down offers that are not for you. Set firmer boundaries in your personal and professional relationships. No one should be draining your time, energy, or emotions without deserving them first. Strive for fulfillment, not appeasement. This is the way to lead a life that’s rewarding and full of meaningful interactions over passive and exhausting transactions.

Think About What Your Alter Ego Would Do

It seems silly, but imagination is actually a powerful tool that a true boss babe isn’t afraid to use. If you had an alter ego right now, what would she be doing to achieve her goals? This ultra-successful, confident and happy version of you wants to help you out. Listen to her advice. Channel her energy whenever you’re feeling anxious or doubtful. As the saying goes, sometimes you have to fake it till you make it. But rather than being fraudulent, using an alter ego to shape your current actions is a strong visualization strategy. When you see yourself making choices that lead you to the desired endpoint, you are more confident, inspired, and proactive.
