Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar Cephus is famously known as Cardi B. Cardi B is a hip-hop rapper and songwriter. Her name is after the rum brand Bacardi. She is an American citizen with a Dominican father and a Trinidadian mother. Cardi B shot to fame for the first time in 2011 after a video of her stripping went viral. Along with this, she was extremely good at ranting and dissing, and she used to post these videos on social media. She gained a lot of followers and attention for this content.
A “WAP” Career
Cardi B made her public debut on the reality show Love and Hip Hop: New York. She appeared on the show for nearly two years. Cardi B was always confident in her musical talents, but nobody believed her. She proved everyone wrong when she introduced the world to her first single, Bodak Yellow, in June of 2017. She became a music sensation overnight! It was her first rap song ever, and it got listed on the Billboard 100 charts. Well, looking at her skills, she deserves it! Not only was her song “Bodak Yellow” on the charts, but it was also all the way at the top, at number 1! This song was so in demand that Cardi B also performed it at an interview when requested before the world-famous MTV VMAs. Aside from that, the song received two Grammy nominations for her. During the initial days of 2018, Cardi B was spotted in the remix of the song “Finesse” by Bruno Mars. Later that year, in April, Cardi B went on to release her very first album, “Invasion of Privacy.” She definitely took over all of our attention after this. A few days later, she was seen performing at a live concert with fellow rappers G-Eazy and 21 Savage. Cardi B was in fact pregnant at that time, although she was more energetic and loveable. She broke her own records by getting featured in TIME magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people. She went on to give many memorable performances, like those at the MTV 2018 Music Awards and the American Music Awards 2018. She even made appearances, which will go down in the history of fashion. Her look for the Met Gala’s heavenly bodies was eerily similar. In the year 2019, Cardi B also went on to win her first Grammy for best rap album. She made history yet again, as she was the first female rapper to win this award. For her album, “Invasion of Privacy,” she got a whopping 21 nominations for Billboard Music Awards and ended up winning six of them! Cardi B decided to win even more hearts and made her debut film, “Hustlers.” Another groundbreaking release by Cardi B was in August 2020 with her song “WAP.” The song was phenomenal, and the video left fans’ mouths open. The song and video together made netizens go crazy. Congratulations were in order for the hip-hop rapper as her very first song, “Bodak Yellow,” got a diamond certification. Just as fans were waiting for the queen to return, on December 1, 2022, she teased netizens that her new album sophomore would be released in 2023!
A Rollercoaster Ride
Cardi B and Offset have been a couple we have heard about in the news very often. According to sources, the two met for the first time in 2016. They got involved with each other at the beginning of 2017 after the release of their very first song together, “Lick.” Their first date was particularly memorable because it took place during the Super Bowl! Only a few months later, in October of the same year, a huge public engagement took place between the couple. Offset proposed to Cardi B, and she said yes! Next year, in June, it was found out that the two were married, and it took place a month before their engagement in September 2017. In January 2018, rumors started spreading that Offset cheated on Cardi B, but she took to Instagram and denied all such claims. Later that year, in March, again the “WAP” star was in the headlines as people predicted she was pregnant. She later confirmed it during a performance by showing off her baby bump. In July, Cardi B and Offset had their first child together. For the initial days, they kept their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, very private and safe from the paparazzi. In December 2018, Cardi B announced that she would be splitting with her husband Offset. There were discussions among fans and on social media that this was due to Offset cheating on her. But Offset was not going to let her wife go so easily. He planned to win his wife back, and during her live performance, he got up on the stage and got her a huge cake that read, “Cardi, take me back!” He was able to woo her, and a month later, news spread that the two were back together.
