We have all been spending a little more time at home these last few months, and with fall just around the corner, it is the perfect excuse to revamp your space with fall decor for the season.  With simple, affordable touches any space can be transformed into a festival of fall without breaking the bank.

Achieving That Cozy Fall Look

While a visit to a pumpkin farm and a leaf-peeping trip upstate is to be expected, there is nothing quite as comforting as curling up under a blanket with a pumpkin spice latte and watching the leaves change color from inside your cozy space.

Fall decor is all about coziness, so adding a burnt orange throw to your bed or draping a knitted tartan blanket over your sofa can transform the look of the space immediately. Not to mention a blanket gives you something to cuddle up to while you watch Hocus Pocus on repeat. Also adding brown, red, and orange cushions and rugs mimicking the foliage outside can bring warm autumn tones inside.

Achieving That Cozy Fall Look

It’s All About the Pumpkin Patches

Pumpkin patches, not only festive but a great opportunity to pick up a pumpkin (or two) for your space. Get creative with carving and try carving a witch, black cat, or ghost into the pumpkin. You can make it a competition with friends (if you are lucky, you may get to keep theirs too)!

If you really want to save money skip the farm entrance fees and pick up pumpkins straight from the store. You can find miniature pumpkins in grocery stores that can be placed on windowsills and shelves. The miniature pumpkins are not only cute and festive, but they are a space-saver for those crowded NY apartments.

If pumpkins are too obvious, ask a farm about buying extra corn stalks or hay bales to display at home. It might be a good idea to invest in some artificial fall decor which can be used year after year.  (HomeGoods always have an affordable and varied collection.)

Capturing Those Foliage Photos

While leaf-peeping, pick up your camera (or phone!) and take some shots of the beauty around you. The air in fall is always cool and crisp and perfect for exploring. Whether you take a trip to New England for a hike, or just wander around Central Park, the foliage is too impressive to not be captured in a photograph.

Your favorite shots can be made into canvases through affordable online websites such as Snapfish. The prints can be hung up and brought out every year to reminisce about the magnificence of previous falls. While you’re on your walk, don’t forget to pick up pine cones that can be displayed around your space for the perfect fall decor that is completely free.

Light It Up

Candles and fairy lights are the perfect addition to a fall-themed space as it really ramps up the coziness and the magical mood of the season. Empty Mason jars can be found around the house or purchased online. Lights can be added to give your space a rustic, autumnal feel which can leave you feeling extra Zen.

Candle-making kits are also a great way to get into the spirit of the season. The candles can be made in bulk, making them more affordable than buying ready-made candles in store.  Unique candles such as pumpkin spice, caramel apple, and cinnamon make perfect smelling candles for fall, so your space can not only look the part but smell amazing too.

With any leftover Mason jars, you can use them as vases for Fall-colored flowers and berries. Surprisingly, some flowers do bloom in Fall, and they make perfect flower arrangements for Fall décor on a budget, especially if you grow them yourself.

Get Crafty With Coziness

If you are feeling particularly crafty, there are many ways you can make handmade autumn decorations on a budget. Etsy is a great place for inspiration on how to get creative decorating your space. But if you don’t have the skills to knit your own pumpkin or paint a pumpkin patch sign, chances are that someone else has exactly what you are looking for at an affordable price online. You’ll definitely find an amazing selection of unique, handmade pieces of fall decor on Etsy.
