Warner Bros. and Legendary have dropped the first official trailer for the highly anticipated sci-fi epic sequel “Dune: Part 2.” For those of you who might not be aware of the blockbuster sci-fi movie starring Hollywood heartthrob Timothee Chalamet and the iconic Zendaya, let me shed some light on it.
Dune, released in 2021, is an American epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve, who also co-wrote the screenplay for the film. Set in the distant future, the film follows Paul Atreides as his family, the noble House Atreides, is thrust into a war for the deadly and inhospitable desert planet Arrakis. The movie was a massive hit on the screen, as it got nominated for 10 Academy Awards and even won six of them. One can now imagine the craze and enthusiasm that will follow as the trailer for Part 2 is released.
Now is the time for part two, and fans are just very excited and curious to see what kind of surprise they’re in for. Since it is a book adaptation, people who’ve already read the books must be aware of what they can look forward to in the movie. Even then, seeing what you’ve only read come to life is a great thing to be able to witness, so the excitement is the same for all.
What to Expect
In the sequel, Timothee as Atreides teams up with Zendaya as Chani and the Fremen to take revenge on those who brought ruin to his family, and now he must juggle his love life with the fate of the universe at stake. “In the first movie, Paul Atreides is a student. We really see Paul Atreides become a leader here,” says Timothee Chalamet at CinemaCon last week, where “Dune: Part 2” was first revealed to those who attended the unveiling. In the trailer, one can see Paul riding the back of a massive sandworm on the deserts of Arrakis while Chani and the Fremen cheer him on. There are also first looks at a bald Austin Butler as Feyd Rautha Harkonnen, the nephew of Stellan Skarsgard’s Baron Harkonnen, and Florence Pugh’s Princess Irulen, the daughter of Christopher Walken’s Emperor Shaddam IV. The trailer also teases an upcoming war, with Paul, now with blue eyes caused by consuming Fremen’s mystical spice drug, commanding a massive army. The fans are in for a big, big adventure.
In this second part of the movie series, we also get to witness certain newcomers, namely Léa Seydoux as Lady Margot, Bene Gesserit, Souheila Yacoub as a Fremen warrior, and Tim Blake Nelson. Alongside Chalamet and Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Skarsgard, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Stephen McKinley Henderson are also set to be seen yet again in the movie. Fans of the movie Little Women have their happiness doubled as they get to see Chalamet and Pugh reuniting and sharing the screen once again. The two of them are great friends, and having such a great cast together in such a nerve-wracking movie is for sure a treat to the eyes and a thrilling experience for the mind.
